Exactly. It was a dumb choice because the Cowboys just went to the first airline booth and took their earliest flight, and "trusted it", without even checking other options. Heck, they could have gone to Kingfisher's booth (presumably not far away) and asked there. I don't believe any of the teams were even remotely in a hurry to board a plane, no?

A travel agent? Sure, they'd have been screwed, because the agent was supposed to provide you whatever options there are. But they went to one airline booth of a specific airline.

I agree. For all we know, though, the other teams checked for options after they'd gotten the Kingfisher flight, and they didn't show it. And as noted, at least a couple of teams either hit the Internet or a travel agent.

There's no guarantee that one airline agent is going to tell you about an earlier flight on another airline. An actual non-affiliated travel agent, sure, but the airline employee is trying to sell a ticket on his or her airline.

That's a common gripe of mine that will never be addressed I'm afraid. I'd LOVE to know how long some of these challenges actually take. Sometimes we find out in post elimination interviews, such as Luke being at the tea challenge for 4 hours.

Christina seemed like she was simmering angry, keeping her mouth shut during the segment with Ron saying how he had overthought the task. That's pretty bad when Ron has a one hour head start on the Cowboys and he only has one word of the meaning-of-life Roadblock word puzzle completed. :p

My point is that most of the other groups did the exact same thing. They went direct to the Kingfisher Airline ticket office. Two teams did not, they went to a travel agency. Both groups ended ended up with the right flight, two by design and 4 by random chance. If they did more checking to find a better flight, they didn't show it was they usually do. Regardless, the cowboys still ended up passing two teams which was tough given their starting position in Varanasi.

A travel agent is no guarantee anyway. Lots of times they come up with a slower routing. It has happened numerous times that the team with a travel agent ended up with a less optimal routing than a team that found the flights on the internet.

I think Ron demonstrated on several occasions that he has great difficulty changing direction. Once he takes a certain course he almost gets stuck.

Normally, that's a good thing on the ones with two tasks as switching rarely helps. His problem was that he often ended up trying to solve the task in odd ways.

I wonder if that's just how they edited it? They could have gone to various counters, or, looked up at the departure board. Somehow, I have my doubts they just lucked out going to Kingfisher without checking other options.

I always thought the meaning of life was 42 :)

(Guess none of the contestants were Hitchhiker's Guide fans :) )

any way you slice it, the cowboys were wrong. If you're in the airport and you don't see any other contestant, it better be because you're 100% sure you know something they don't and are way ahead!

I don't think anyone is disputing that. I think the discussion hinges of whether they made a dumber decision up front. Certainly, it appears they had time to do some further research to find if other options existed.

It would have been funny if that was the answer they were supposed to find. :)

I just don't understand why the Cowboys didn't discover the other better flight. They had all evening to check into it. Why not spend some time on the internet looking for better options? They were far too complacent.

My point as well...just dumb luck. But the cowboys still overcame the one hour delay....

I kinda like when they go to far out places.

If all they did was go to Europe, South America and Japan it would be boring.

The best was when they went to Botswana.

I guess we'll never know exactly what happened with the flights due to editing. My hunch is that when several teams at the same counter say "same tickets as them" they probably don't bother looking for another flight, they feel "safe" because they are on the same flight as everyone else. Taking another flight that may get in an hour earlier (if there is one) is risky because there can be any number of delays, connection issues, etc. Always safer to stay with the pack I guess. But yes, the Cowboys had plenty of time to check for another flight and ANYTIME you are separated from everyone else at the airport you have to at least find out what other flight the others might be on.
