    Eddie Murphy!

An excellent choice in my opinion. They needed to bring the comedy back and are lucky to get that guy.

Hmm. I don't know about this one. I assume he's still funny, but he hasn't done standup in decades. He's turned into kind of a prick over the years.

I think it's a great choice. Eddie won't have much to live up to since last years'.

Seems like a reach to me. Eddie was hilarious in the 80s, but most of his movies have bombed lately, other than the Shrek movies with his voice. And has he ever done any stand up or other hosting that was TV friendly?

    Sherman...
Well, he hosted "SNL" twice (once while he was still a cast member).

That's true (and I must admit that I actually forgot about his stellar work on SNL while I was composing my previous post). But I still question the decision. It seems the Academy is more interested in getting a name that will excite people than they are in getting someone that will actually do a good job.

He can't do any worse than the stoner we had this year...

They should have gone with NPH.

I would've preferred Billy Crystal as was rumored, but that's Brett Ratner for ya. I'll refrain from judgment for a while. After all, no one can be worse than James Franco...right?
