Does anyone here use Terrarium TV? My son is going to install it on my smart TV with an Amazon Fire Stick. I am wondering if I can use my Tivo remote. Also, do I need to reprogram it the remote?

    Thanks.

The Tivo remote can only control the TV's Power, Volume and Mute. All other functions are to the Tivo only.

So what you are saying is that I need to use a different remote? I am not quite sure what you are saying.

I wondered about that. I read where it's not illegal if you don't share or upload it per Terrarium. Maybe that's not true. What about using a VPN?

Does that mean Kodi is illegal too? They blatantly advertise it on Amazon.

I'm pretty sure the Amazon Fire TV Stick comes with its own remote.

The TiVo remote has very limited programmability -- it can control a few TV functions, and some sound systems. That's all. It's possible that there are non-Amazon remotes that can control a Fire TV Stick, but the TiVo peanut is not one of them.

Thank you. After you said that I looked and it seems to come with an Alexis remote. I really don't like Alexis and the idea that wherever I say gets heard. I am hoping I can use it manually and turn off the voice option. :(

I didn't know Tivo had a voice button. Maybe not on the Premiere. Thanks for the answer.

A TiVo Premiere does not have any voice ability.

We will see! Otherwise it's the Alexa remote.

I just installed Windscribe from the Fire TV stick app store. No bell rings when it is working. I missed the second half of an episode of Person of Interest. I used Windscribe for VPN and Kodi with Exodus addon to find it and watch it. The quality was really low, so I will probably get the Amazon ethernet adapter for fire TV. Its $14.99. I paid $19.99 for the Fire TV stick. Yikes!

I am looking into unblockr.net which I heard about on YouTube. They supposedly delete info every 5 minutes whereas a VPN can keep logs for longer and have to respond to court orders. I find the instructions confusing so we will see.

Windscribe and most $ VPNs do not maintain logs beyond a session log, typically deleted when you end your session, and accumulating how much data you've used. Responding to a subpoena costs money, so many internet companies minimize the information they keep.

I did not know Windscribe was even working until I saw 0.1GB of data usage.
