On the Finale. We didn't get the happy ending, and we didn't get the Ted and Rebecca fall for each other, so that's good and I was wrong about both. But it was a nice ending, where we see that some of the characters learned the life lessons that Ted taught.

Yeah there were actually a lot of bittersweet moments in the finale. Roy's last game but because of his personal growth he's actually ready to move on to the next chapter in his life. The team has been relegated but they know they've accomplished a lot. Etc, etc, etc.

A good season, and not just because I had low expectations going in. They really managed to turn in quality episodes throughout.

There was so much time left in the episode that after they tied it up, it seem likely there was going to be another twist left. I'm glad that they didn't go for the happy ending. Though with all of the storylines seemingly tied up, I wonder what direction they will go next season?

    Plenty of things:
    • Learn more about Ted backstory
    • Get back into Premier league
    • Big bad evil ex-husband stuff
    • and finally life in the junior league!

Roy becomes a coach for the team; or...he coaches a competing team.

Does this show require one to be a sports fan to enjoy? I just got Apple+ and with everyone going on about how wonderful it is, I watched the first episode and don't get it at all. It reminds me a little of Lillehammer with the fish out of water guy but... what keeps you guys watching?

I enjoyed it, and don’t care at all about soccer. It’s a funny show with great life lessons along the way.

It's more about how people treat each other and seeing the better side of people.

To the question "Do I need to know about sports/soccer/football to enjoy this show?"
The answer is no.. You can be completely oblivious about it, as is the main character.

Another good show about sports that requires zero knowledge to enjoy is Friday Night Lights

I liked this show but never thought it was something amazing.. It's cute and wholesome.

BUT I am amazed at the people saying it's a break out hit. I am also kind of amazed it picked up a 3rd season renewal.

I know it sounded like a stupid question, but not understanding why people like it so much is why I thought that maybe it did, at least in a "this is how athletes/coaches are, isn't that funny" way.

I might give another episode or two a try, but that first episode didn't grab me at all. I felt that way about that Schwimmer show on Peacock.

I'm not a soccer fan, let alone and ENGLISH soccer fan and I loved the show. It's old school in a lot of respect in it's lessons. Lots of optimism, characters evolve from what they were originally, lots of fish out of water situations, and the characters are good and mostly likable.

Binged the show this week, and I am British and a soccer fan (though I also hate tea). I LOVED it. The heart and positivity of it was great.

The poster somewhere up above who commented on the accents made me laugh. There were no fake accents in this, that is how people talk in the UK, and then add on the "foreign" players in the English league and it was very accurate.

It was initially dismissed in the UK due to be seen as part of the NBC soccer coverage but it was clearly made by Brits with a couple of Americans as actors (I think Coach Beards chess playing gf was the main writer) and is popular. I've always liked Brett Goldstein (Roy) who used to do a great live version of Muppets Christmas Carol :)

All the filming was done in the Richmond area (except the stadium stuff), it made it look sooooo nice, but it's a pocket of London that is nothing like anywhere else and is ridiculously expensive.

Due to the overall positivity of the show I really did not like the Anthony Head character, I think they could have found a way for the bad guy to be different somehow.

Oh, and I don't agree we need to investigate the reasons that Tedd is like he is. It's so rare to find a good, positive, character on TV that I am just happy he exists.

Seconded, and I think we already know the reason anyway: it's his choice. We've seen him be down, sad, broken, so it's not like he doesn't get that way; he simply opts not to stay that way. It's one of the things that makes his divorce so poignant, as his ex cited his optimism as an issue in their relationship.

Just finished it with my wife, who hates all sports, and we both loved it.

I only knew about relegation because my daughter is dating a guy from London and he explained how his team was recently promoted. But otherwise it's easy to figure out from the context.

Glad they didn't go with the cliched ending, what with the other team winning 6-0 and then their tying it up. I think as it stands it'll make for better stories coming up. Wondering, though, how many players will remain or if most are under contract.

Overall just really well done. Looking forward to the upcoming seasons.
