Yeah, I think there’s no question she got rid of Jamie. She had said earlier that Manchester wanted Jamie back if he wasn’t going to play. So obviously she told them he wasn’t. It’s one reason Ted was so upset at the end: he knew she had screwed him over.

Huh, I quit this show half way thru the first episode. I got totally hung up on the forced accents and disjointed storylines. I had no motivation to wait for the crossover.

Maybe I'll give it another go when less tired.or something.

Why are you bowing out? No-taste morons like @markp99 should be the ones bowing out. :p

    * Spoilers for episode 7, "Make Rebecca Great Again", from here. *

Unexpected episode. I really liked it, although thinking critically, I'm not sure how well it held together as a part of the season so far. Seems like there should have been some blowback from the end of the last episode, but Higgins was the only one who suffered any. Rebecca seemed happy they won this match. Ted drinks and has messy hair and a hookup? And while it's believable that Nathan would have good insights into the team, it was a little hard to accept him being so directly profane in expressing them, even on paper and especially to their faces.

I'm glad they are working in some deeper stuff, though. It would be easy for the show to float along more superficially, riding a funny mustache and folksy aphorisms and character types. Instead it is making actual characters, including Ted who we got to see here as a real human being. One criticism I've heard about the show is that it's hard to root for Ted when he always seems to be right, that he's not actually an underdog. I'm not sure I agree, but the last ten minutes of this episode is one way to show that he's got problems to deal with that he can't folksy his way out of.

For half a second I thought it was going to be Rebecca at his door and I started saying "oh no!" that the show would make that mistake, before I realized who it was really going to be. And then I became jealous of a fictional character. Would that a girl like that would ever knock on my hotel door!

Had a question about that, and this whole situation confused me. So Jamie is "on loan" to Richmond but is actually a member of Man City? How does that work?

    1) Is Richmond a "minor league" team or part of the EPL? Playing Everton in a future episode makes me think they are part of the EPL
    2) If a player is "loaned" to another team, what is to prevent that player from having mixed loyalties? Playing for one team could provide a conflict of interests (even if Richmond isn't a great team, Jamie could have not played hard to guarantee a loss for example if it benefited the team that "owns" his contract.

I get the US leagues having a major league/minor league dynamic, that works pretty well, but having another team in the same league own the players contract is just weird to me.

I knew that sort of thing happens in the soccer (football) world, but someone better educated than me on the sport would need to explain it. Apparently it's not just an intra-league thing, either. I read over the weekend that US women's star Alex Morgan has been loaned to Tottenham for the fall season even though she is a member of the Orlando Pride of the NWSL, and will miss their season as a result.

But that's different in that those two leagues are not connected. They don't ever play each other (well maybe in some international tournament, I don't follow it that close). In Ted Lasso, this is two teams in the same League. That's what seems odd to me. Now if he was being loaned to Richmond by the New Jersey Red Bulls of MSL, that would be equivalent.

Thanks. By dogging it, I'm not sure you would dog it every game, but in a situation where you are given that instruction by your parent club to "dog it" against a team that would be beneficial for that team to win. Maybe you need a team to pass another team. Another situation is that the team that loans you a player is now behind you in the standings for whatever reason, and now they "claim" your key player and thus tanks your chances. It's just not something that makes a whole lot of sense to me. Better they are able to loan players to a team that's been regulated, or in the case of some European leagues send to the B league team for your team (like minors in baseball).

Imagine the Patriots draft a young RB who they don't currently have room for. They loan that player to the Bengals. With the help of that player the Bengals are all of a sudden a playoff contender. The Pats see this and claim that player back. Not because they have more room for him, but because they can prevent the Bengals from making the playoffs. That's why that probably couldn't work here. I guess the Premier League doesn't have playoffs so it's a little different.

This show is the perfect mix of comedy (but not so much in-your-face), drama and heartfelt emotion. Loving it.

Loving this show. Love the characters. The only part I find a bit hard to believe is that the actress who is supposed to be the super hot model is not nearly as hot as the Rebecca character (and especially the friend from this most recent episode).

I might be remembering wrong, but I think the "super hot" model, I think, it more of a "former" super hot model, who's just hanging on with younger guys to keep her youth. She made a comment about turning 30, but still dating young guys. I think at this point she's more of a internet person, who's trying to branch out into more of a lasting career. I agree, Rebecca is one attractive older woman (she would make my 40+ thread that's floating around).

Yeah, Keeley is, as she put it, "sort of famous for almost being famous".

Yea I think Keeley is supposed to be an "influencer" or former page 3 girl considering there was an actual page 3 girl named Keeley AND the real life Keeley was the girl that was bidding against her for Jamie.

Definitely enjoying the show, was worried in the begining that they were trying to make a Michael Scott clone with Ted. Glad to quickly see that wasn't the case.

Ted has multiple redeeming qualities; Michael (IMO), had very few. I enjoyed The Office, but this show beats it hands down...
