After many years readig this forum, I've come across a couple of tech blogs people post and they are very good.

My question is, what other Tech Specific Blogs similar to above or close are good to follow or read.

    Thanks

And the backstory is somewhat ironic... I didn't actually start website until I got tired of TiVoToGo decryption threads being deleted here. Ha? :)

As far as tech sites in this space, a lot of great talent from Engadget landed at The Verge - their layout isn't typical blog style and yet also isn't CNET-ish and I find myself perusing their mobile site instead http://mobile.theverge.com. And their mobile editor Chris Z is a TiVo owner. Of course, the aforementioned CNET is often worthwhile along with EngadgetHD and NewTeeVee/GigaOm. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of TiVo things to discuss these days and sites like Gizmodo rarely cover them anymore. But I'm glad MZ is blogging again even if Alex of tivoblog.com has probably retired for good.

While I'm posting, TiVo spoke to the FCC yesterday and summarized their discussion in this letter (PDF):
    http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/ecfs/document/view?id=7021858696

They cited my recent story in regards to SDV sucking and questioned the NCTA's CableCARD report as it suggests retail usage is declining while TiVo's net digital subs are actually up. Somewhat related, I'm trying to get a comment from them on Boxee's FCC filing. Doubt it'll happen, but it could be interesting.

John Gruber's Daring Fireball is a good read for snarky pro-Apple commentary.

I agree with Dave that most of the best writers from Engadget HD jumped ship to The Verge. I keep wondering when Ben Drawbaugh is going to join the others at the cool kids' table.

While not strictly a blog, AVS Forum is invaluable for home theater and HDTV, Joystiq and Gamasutra are great for video games, and Mac Rumors is good for iOS and Mac news and rumors.

When it comes to schadenfreude, crackberry.com and rimarkable.com are pretty funny. It's hilarious to listen to comments from diehard fans as a once-leading smartphone company withers into oblivion.:D

Gabe's site content looks great, thanks for the heads-up. Wish he had a way to send daily updates out as emails though, couldn't find that. I tried RSS long ago but didn't care for it, plus I don't need another reader app.

Gae site is actually exactly what i was looking for thanks.

I also follow The Verge, Endgagdet, BGR, Wired, and Gizmodo in a folder for Industry News Sites. I added the Register to that one. Conetnt looks pretty good.

I like the Tech Blogs for the more niche personal commentary.

Thanks. Always good to know where people go to get their info.

I'll tell him to turn it on and direct him to this thread.

PS My site has a new email thingy in play to replace the Google Feedburner one with something more modern and it should send the entire article via email shortly after publication. If you look at the bottom of my center side bar, you'll see a field to put the email address. Hoping they one day allow me to merge my Feedburner list in some way.

Not to hijack my own thread but I was reading thorugh your blog and hte post on picking a home theater receiver and was wondering one question. Did you also consider Denon as a possible receiver? The reason I ask is that is what I have and was wondering if there was a pro/con that excluded it. Thanks.

No reason in particular. I just went with my gut on which ones to pick. Looking at three side by side took a long time. Subsequently, I have heard a lot of good things about the Denon and would like to try one out down the road.

Your article was great and very informative. Lots of good decision points. I went from Sony to Onkyo but the latest HT Version I have is Denon. I will probably never go back. They are really good. The probable is that they are pricey.

The latest model based on teh one I got about 3 years ago is

In a previous iteration of my home theater, back in my projector days, I ran a Denon and recall being pleased with its performance. But that's going back even further than your 3 years.

Yeah, but it's also worth pointing out that he suggested Motorola will buy TiVo... Unfortunately for him and that prediction, Motorola's set-top box business is being acquired by Google. Ugh? (Not that I or other bloggers haven't made mistakes.)
