IFTTT may be unreliable but autoskip with kmttg has been darn near 100% reliable for me. And with cheap options like raspberry Pi's out there to run it on it's a no brainer for tech-oriented folks. The rest have to suffer with flakiness because Tivo is never going to release autoskip in the OS, that's why they came up with this unofficial massive kludge in the first place.
I have a pi with kmtttg, but the downside is that kmttg needs to build a SKIP table by running each show with SKIP (by RW from end) and recording the SKIP points. I have crontabs to do this at 3am and also to start and stop kmttg skip based on my viewing habits, but never liked that kmttg has to continually monitor the Tivo while running.
Since IFTTT, I only use kmttg when IFTTT is not running (i.e. like after the last TiVo SW upgrade)
I use kmttg for autoskip also. While it is a bit of a PITA that it needs to manually process the skip points (usually overnight by timed jobs), I find it much more reliable and consistent than IFTTT. Also, it's tunable so you can adjust the skip start and resume points.
And it's faster to kick in, too.
As is TiVo vs Cloud DVR
