I just purchased a TV with HD capability and have a TiVo Series2 rev.4 DVR 80 hour . Will I still be able to watch HD channels but just not be able to record them? If I upgrade to Tivo HD do I just have to pay for the new box and keep my existing subscription or do I need to purchase a new subscription too?

    Thanks

I assume since you are talking about the TivoHD then your programming source is cable.

Your New HD TV will work fine with a Series 2 Unit. You should be able to watch HD Channels and record them with it, but the picture quality will not be the best.

I believe to purchase a TivoHD you must sign up for a whole new subscription if purchased from the Tivo Site. If purchased from a Retail store you may be able to transfer the subscription over from the Old Box to the new.

Tivo did have offers to transfer lifetime service and that to them when they first came out.

Best way would be to call Tivo and talk to a CSR.
