What the heck? Is that like a spoiler from the future?!
haha no. It’s a joke based on video game speed run culture.
It looks like some kind of fake YouTube video from the future. Where did that screen shot come from?
It’s not a spoiler. It’s a joke that was posted to r/survivor. Now, granted, Natalie could win, but that doesn’t make this a spoiler.
What’s a speed run?
Where did the picture come from? Was it photoshopped with Natalie's head?
This would be a better way to do it. How about a limit of 4 people on EoE and once they get to 4 then they have a competition to see who goes home. At least there is some meaningful competition and I'd feel that those players earned their time there. So it's the game within the game. Or, how about a player from EoE who comes back earns half the prize and has to pick a player who stayed in the regular game half the prize money? I don't know, I don't like the concept of EoE really, but it just feels like it could be better if they didn't let a player back in at the end, and that player has a good chance to make it to the final 3.
A speed run is a video game activity where the person playing the video game attempts to finish the entire game as fast as possible. There are lots of variations depending on restrictions added. This one says "Any%" for example which means they can complete as much or as little of the actual game goals as needed... often in an Any% run the player will use all kinds of in-game tricks (quite often exploiting bugs in the game) to go as fast as possible, even skipping entire sections. To be nerdy I'll say that this is not right: a Survivor challenge must always be "100%" because you can't skip any aspect of the challenge and still win.
That's clearly Nat, not photoshopped. Wasn't that a shot from the first "get back in the game" challenge?
The Any% joke here is that if she gets back in the game And wins she did the “Edge of Extinction Exploit”
Sounds a lot like Redemption Island.
So how do you feel about being able to buy an advantage that lets you skip sections of a challenge? For example, Natalie bought the max of three advantages for this upcoming challenge, so she'll skip major portions of it and have a massive lead right off the bat.
Natalie ended up buying all three advantages. The advantages were shown briefly in the episode, along with a description of the entire challenge, but I’ll spoiler this just in case.
Follow a rope through a fence obstacle and then a post obstacle.
Advantage 1: Skip the fence obstacle.
Dig up a rope rung.
Advantage 2: Skip digging, rope rung is waiting for you.
Build a rope bridge and cross it.
Advantage 3: 1/3 of your rope bridge is already built.
Maneuver two balls through a table maze.
So Natalie will completely skip the first two portions of the challenge and will have an advantage in the third portion. If she doesn't win this challenge, it will mean she completely choked on the table maze.
Yeah, OK. If you think of it for the entire game of Survivor it works; I was thinking of it just for the get-back-in challenge.
I wasn't saying how I felt about anything, one way or the other. I was just saying that I didn't think applying the "Any%" label in the meme was correct (but, see above). But maybe you're right, and Any% does apply anyway because she's skipping parts of the challenge using advantages.
So I guess I feel like I'm completely wrong, soup to nuts!
That's kind of ridiculous, and it just proves once again how the Edge is designed in a way that unfairly rewards those who got voted out early and penalizes those who got voted out late. I'd love for Jeremy to win his way back in despite not having a single advantage, but I doubt it will happen.
The season isn't over yet, but at this point I'm not sure I'd even put it in my top 10. I had huge expectations for the season given the cast, but I think Edge kind of ruined it. If someone from Edge wins, this season won't even be in the top 20.
It's interesting that the main part of the game is great. Watching these people play with no real experience advantage has been fun. But I agree, EoE is ruining it for me, especially if it plays out as I expect it to.
Based on the edit we've seen, I would assume that either Tony or Sarah wins the game if they make it to the end. I just can't see how Ben, Michelle or Denise can possibly beat either of them. The wild card is whoever comes back from Edge. If they make it to the final tribal, all bets are off.
As it stands, I don't think Ben can win the game no matter who he is up against at the end. Michelle or Denise could potentially win if Tony and Sarah are both shut out of the finals.
Well, tonight's the night!!! Super excited, but also nervous. At this point, I kind of feel like the season will be a huge let down if Tony doesn't make it to the end. I'm worried that we may have another Rick Devens situation, where everyone is rooting for him and he falls short. I just really hope that someone from Edge doesn't win it.
When is the last time Tony can play his idol? Final five?
