The one point that this episode really hammered home was that, with this particular cast, one hour isn't nearly enough time per episode. I would love to see more of those conversations that were taking place as the players all scrambled. I think they really dropped the ball by not having more footage available on CBS All Access.

Two Million bucks! Wow. That's some serious change.

Friggin' Boston Rob, the biggest target and he jumps right in, intimidating the weaker players but doing it in a way so he doesn't come across as a bully. He has a great instinct for reading people, he knew which players he could push around. Of course that won't work with stronger folk like Parvati or Sandra or Yul or some others. I think that's when the season will really ramp up to greatness, when the surviving strong players start going at each other.

Loved the conversation between Rob and Parvati about feeling safe and wondering why they weren't the first targets.

With so many likable players it's hard to choose who to root for but my favorites from previous seasons would be Yul, Sarah, and Parvati. I think Parvati's too much of a target but the other two could go all the way.

Wow, they cut so much out of the tribals. I would've loved to have seen all that.

Yep. Again, this would have been the perfect opportunity to provide some extra footage for the hardcore fans. I think the greatest revelation from Dalton was this:
"Edge of Extinction became a major topic of discussion at Tribal. It started when Yul called out Chris Underwood’s win as very controversial and polarizing. Sandra then weighed in on EOE, going on about how someone should be out when they were out, and now because of the twist, she had to be nice to people instead of mean. Jeff then polled the tribe, asking who among them liked Edge as another chance to get back in the game. Sarah, Amber, and Nick raised their hands. The other 7 did not. Jeff then asked Sarah and Amber what they liked about it."

Sorry. It doesn't really give away anything important, but I guess technically it's a spoiler since it wasn't shown on air. I'm curious, are there a lot of people that don't read external blogs like Dalton's to avoid this kind of stuff? I abhor true spoilers, but I find this kind of additional information fascinating.

This season is going to be EPIC. I just hope they get rid of Denise quickly. Everytime I see her

I think it was Tony who captured my feelings - it's the Super Bowl we waited 20 years to happen. I had a HUGE grin on my face the entire episode. :) Some highlights for me

-Tyson's low-key but oh so snarky greeting to the women, many who fell getting out of the boat "You guys hit the ocean yet?"
-Then following up with an unusually emotional Tyson speaking about being able to spend the day with his kids
    -The Robfather
    a) Jedi mind-tricking Marine Ben
    b) straight up going Corleone, asking Danni if she brought his name up, and saying, "good thing you didn't lie to me" after her response and bringing her in close
    c) realizing that Parvati would be completely on to his game and not be able to be intimidated, so first thing he does is make an alliance with her. In fact, his strategy of an old-school alliance is built solely on him realizing the new school players are too smart to fall for his tactics
-Parvati, saying she's not going to be playing the flirt game, asking Rob if he's asking her to the prom and he should give her a corsage
-Adam slyly working his way out of being a target. It was his idea to split up Jeremy and Natalie in the first place, setting off a chain reaction
-Ethan, just being able to play
-Yul, the least connected guy of them all, sussing out all the connections and creating a bogeyman out of the "poker alliance"
-Tony working sooooooo hard to suppress his inner core
-Sandra playing mind games, and they work! She knows her strengths and focuses on using them to the best advantage possible

I am all-in on Winners at War and so happy we get to watch

This is the first time I’ve read this guy’s recap even though it’s posted here after every ep.

I must have missed it during the ep. What is he talking about when he says

Because by being the first person voted out, Natalie already assured herself of an advantage in the return challenge on day 3

No doubt she will, but at least for now, no one knows that’s possible except Sandra and she’s currently on the other tribe. They know you have to give your fire token to someone else, but they don’t know about advantages coming from EoE.

I’m also loving the show so far. And I know I’m getting old - I’ve watched every Survivor episode and yet there were at least eight winners I had no recollection of at all at the beginning of the show, although my memory came back a little bit as the episode played out.

Curious that so far no one has found a HII. Wonder if they actually DID hide some, or if they are expecting all the idols to come from EoE?

This is not a spoiler, since he's talking about something that DID air. But I'll spoiler it anyway since I suppose we are talking about something quoted in the article. :)

Natalie got the price list for the fire tokens, and one of the things in the list is an advantage at the return challenge. She just sold the immunity idol to Sandra for a fire token... so right now she's the only person on EoE that actually has any currency, since people have to give their tokens that they had in the regular game away when they got voted out.

No, Sandra and Amber are on the same tribe. Sandra got her HII advantage before the TC and correctly assumed it was from Natalie.

This isn't a spoiler. On Day 3 (her first day at EoE), Natalie got a fire token from selling the immunity idol to Sandra, which will help Natalie in the "return challenge" because she'll be able to use the fire token to get an advantage in that challenge. Or maybe the EoE people will need to have a fire token in order to play or something.

Bad reading comprehension on my part. I thought the article was saying there would be a return challenge on day 3 of EoE.

I enjoy the outside information for this show, but I also HIGHLY value having this community being one which the readers can enjoy a discussion of the show itself without worrying about being spoiled about anything outside that tv show. It's impossible to find anywhere else.

For instance, there was an abundance of outside information for shows like Game of Thrones. Not spoilery, but perhaps showing characters behind the scenes. I didn't want to see that because then when watching the show I'd be thinking of the acting and being on a stage rather than being able to lose myself in the show.

Putting things in spoiler tags if it's outside the show gives the reader the choice and preserves the special thing this community offers. I, for one, really appreciate you going to the effort of putting the spoiler tags around it. :)

The beauty of Rob's game is that with the stronger players like Parvati, he tries to join forces with them. He knows at some point he'll have to deal with them, but by then, he can find a weakness, or, perhaps they get picked off.

My reply was better constructed in my head before I posted it. :)

I meant to say since Rob is on the other tribe, as soon as he gets the fire token, he's going to assume Amber got voted out (honestly, at this point, who else would give him any advantage). No one else on his tribe has any idea that the fire tokens can be used to purchase advantages from people offering them up from EoE. If his alliance with Parvati is real and not just to make her feel more comfortable, perhaps he would tell her. I tend to doubt it, since he spent more than a month with Sandra on Island of the Idols and never told her he was coming back. He doesn't give things away easily.

Count me with those who can't understand how Sandra is not the first vote out on her tribe. Yes, Rob and Amber are a team but they're on separate tribes so there's plenty of opportunity to get them out before that becomes a problem, and Amber is not nearly the threat Sandra is especially given how long it's been since she played. Sandra just sows discord and distrust everywhere, lies about everything, but she's so smooth and good at it that it doesn't seem to rebound on her.

Actually Amber might be more of a problem on EoE as mentioned above, since she could help Rob directly from there while it didn't seem there was much chance of her taking control from within her tribe. Of course, no one knows about the EoE/fire tokens twist except maybe Sandra if she thought it through, and she can't tell anyone how she knows anyway without revealing her idol. However, I have to say I'm a little skeptical that Amber is going to be able to do much on EoE against Nat, especially if the challenges continue to be physical. I'll definitely be interested to see how EoE works with multiple people there.

I thought the vote-out of Nat was actually a good move by that tribe. She and Jeremy definitely were a tight couple. Rob is so dangerous but he's not a huge wildcard like Sandra is: I think it's not so critical to get him out first. With a season of winners I'm not too worried about him being able to Svengali a group to protect himself like he's done in the past.
