You raise a good point, and I do think the producers may have dropped the ball. To be honest, I keep going back and forth on this, and I'm sure the producers were conflicted as well. It's a very nuanced situation unlike any we've seen before on this show. To my knowledge, it's the first time a situation like this has arisen in the wake of the "Me Too" era.

I don't think it's nuanced at all. It was very clear. Kellee told Dan to stop touching her. He didn't stop. He should have been removed from the game.

I don't remember it being so clear-cut, but that's probably my own wandering attention. If so, I'd agree with you.

I've never missed an episode of Survivor but I'll not watch another episode this season.

First off, early in the first hour Kellee sits there explaining to the camera how upset she is and why and she goes on and on and then the producer chimes in and says (paraphrasing) "Well, if there's an issue you just have to tell us about it and we'll put a stop to it." What the hell did she just do??

At the point where "inappropriate touching" became a real issue it should have been dealt with a great deal more directly where everything is discussed in the open and clarified. To have let it slide by as they did they opened the door to it being used as a gameplay tactic as Missy clearly did just to get Kellee out of the game. The last thing in the world I'd want to watch will be the reunion show as I don't think I'll be able to not throw up listening to the BS that'll come out of everybody's mouth to justify this whole thing. It's disgusting.

Sorry, I just watched this, stopped when Missy et al were lying to Dan about how only Kellee had a problem and they were fine with him sleeping with them and his hands all over them, yada, yada, yada. I'm still a little emotional.

We saw her tell him in the first episode, and since they’ve shown examples of him still doing it. We also saw the other girls complain about it when Kellee was on the other tribe so it wasn’t all just gameplay from them.

I don't know if I agree that he should have been instantly removed from the game, but I do think they should have taken him aside early and given him a clear warning that any further unwanted touching would result in his expulsion. You are right, though. It wasn't nuanced early on. It only became so because the producers didn't quickly take decisive action.

In the first season of Survivor Richard Hatch used nudity as an intimidation technique. In a later season he rubbed his genitals against another contestant, which led her to quit the game. Inappropriate behavior (sexual harassment) is not new on Survivor. The producers should have had a clear set of rules in place to handle this situation, and forcing the victim to file some sort of formal complaint isn't adequate. This isn't a he said/she said situation. There are cameras and documentation available.

Also, in a less serious situation, Dan claimed that if he ever lied to one of his clients he'd be out of a job. He's a Hollywood agent. Ask anyone that has a Hollywood agent if their agent has ever lied to them.

That episode of All-Stars is legitimately uncomfortable to watch now. There was also the Ted/Ghandia situation in Thailand. And while never shown on TV, Sugar and Crystal had some complaints against Bob in Gabon. (Crystal even wanted to bring it up at Final tribal but was told not to).

I agree with all of this. I don't feel one bit bad for Dan.

It was like the very first episode and Kellee told him to stop touching her! And it's not like this was unfounded stuff, everything they kept talking about in this episode had a video clip to back it up.

I feel like Missy was genuinely bothered by it watching her and Kellee's conversation. And maybe Lauren as well. Since she had just been talking about it I think it was last week, where he was groping her in the sleeping shelter? And Kellee was not even at the camp yet. But I think Elizabeth took advantage of the situation, and Missy is trying to walk it back now and curry favor, and I don't have any respect for either one of them now.

Dan should have been dealt with long before this, though, and Aaron is a tool as well for assuming that just because he didn't hear about it, it didn't happen. Props to Jamal for calling him out on that.

Aaron looked like an idiot when he made that statement...and Jamal looked golden holding Aaron's feet to the fire on that statement... Loved that interaction...

The fact that he's a Hollywood agent never registered with me. I know they always have captions under their names, but my brain seems to tune them out.

For some reason, I thought he was a massage therapist, and was really confused when he said his industry had been driving the #MeToo movement.

I think Dan looks like Harvey Weinstein's twin brother. Maybe I'm just projecting, but man they look alike to me.

At least the episode started out with a humorous bit. Barely back from camp and Jamal grills Noura about how she knew to vote Jack. Noura immediately throws Kellee under the bus. Who could possibly have predicted that? :D

Only "the producers" know exactly what was going on... I have a much different take on all of this and I think a right person went home. There's always been some degree of messing around on this show and thoughtfully left out of most of the broadcast stuff. I, for one, am not using Survivor as a teaching moment for personal behavior. Frankly, as many contestants have said, they aren't the most desirable folks to be cozying up. I believe Kelly was taking advantage of an awkward situation, taking advantage of some of the more gullible contestants and playing them like a fiddle... but she didn't quite have it all figured out and her arrogance got the best of her. And unfortunately, a lot of this nonsense plays out in the real world. By by Kelly!

I guess it really comes down to how sincere you think Kellee was. There was a tribal council earlier where she spoke up quite honestly about some of the sexist remarks from some of the guys and there wasn't an ounce of gameplay in that moment at all (IMHO). She was consistent throughout the show about this issue and others and wasn't shy about discussing them with people individually or during confessionals or tribal councils. We've seen Dan touch numerous women inappropriately (and to me the definition of inappropriate is anything, absolutely anything, that is objected to by the individual as it's their perception that matters). And we've heard numerous discussions between the women about it. Kellee never attempted to get rid of Dan despite this and her target was someone else before Janet (?) suggested getting rid of Dan for the sake of all the uncomfortable women.

Part of the reason why this type of stuff continues to be an issue is the fact that people refuse to believe the accuser's side of the story. I didn't see anything at all in Kellee's gameplay that suggested this was just a devious plot to get rid of Dan.

I dislike them all and hope none of them win.

Last week I was disgusted at the Vokai tribe going all weepy and victim-y when Elaine flipped the script on them. One minute they were high and mighty and "it sucks to be Elaine", then they immediately flipped to tears and crying (I've been wanting to be on Survivor since I was 11, boo hoo). I disliked all the members of the Vokai tribe in the blink of an eye.

Now last night's episode. All those I didn't already dislike stepped up their game and now the judgment is complete. Worst season of Survivor ever, bunch of whiny losers and manipulative jerks. As a white male, the mere suggestion or accusation can ruin your life, and this is a clear example of that power being clearly understood and wielded for advantage in a stupid game.

It's too bad CBS won't miss me.
