I agree that it was too early for a tribe swap. This is the first time I can remember where I was completely confused about the vote at tribal. I had no idea who was voting for who or why.

It seemed to me the producers set it up to evenly split the tribes. Jeff had two different woven tray/baskets. I'm assuming he used one for each tribe, ensuring Navati was split into two with 5 each and Malolo split into two with 4 each.

I’m not sure if it was that or one for the men and one for the women to keep them close to even.

Exactly. One basket 5 purple, 5 orange and the other basket 4 purple and 4 orange, ensuring a 5-4 split for each new tribe.

I must have turned it off too soon, and I missed this. Who did she will it to? (not that I'm likely to recognize the name anyway) ;)

    She willed it to Domenick.

I like the idea of an early tribe mix-up but like everyone else, I don't know who a lot of these players are still. It has shown me one thing though, people seem to stick with their original tribes even if they've only been together a few days.

So was the sound mix on this episode too heavy on the music for anyone else? I watched via CBS All Access and the voices were almost buried. I really had to strain to hear them at times.

Otherwise I enjoyed the episode. But like some others was a bit confused as to who was allied with whom after the switch. I don't think the switch happened too early, I just think that they need clearer editing and storytelling somehow to help me keep track of who's who.

And I expected more from Ghost Island. Two people in a row with nothing happening? *yawn*

This exactly. I kept trying to think with each person whether they were on the majority side or minority side. Made it hard to play along at home.

I love how Morgan's wiki page says she is "a marine animal trainer and reality television star, known for Survivor: Ghost Island."

    Yup she's a star alright.

I don't mind the early tribe swap... I like that the castaways need to be on their toes, and cannot count on strong bonds... As someone already mentioned, in the absence of any other factor, the short weak bond is stronger than no bond, so they still try and align along tribal lines... But the alliances are definitely fragile at that point...

What I didn't like (also mentioned) is that as a viewer, I don't know these people yet!!! Like others, I had to go back and figure out who was who...

That's mostly a peer pressure thing. Everyone assumes they're supposed to stick with their original tribe, and everyone assumes the other members of their tribe are sticking together, so they all stick together, even if it's not in each individual person's best interest. Occasionally you'll have someone who shows up to the new tribe and is immediately gunning for someone from his/her own side, like what Chris did in this episode, but usually that ends up painting a target on the person who is attempting to flip, because everyone sees that person as being strategic.

I didn't mind the swap, as even if they kept the tribes together, I'd STILL have no idea who everyone was! They telegraphed again which tribe was going to TC before the challenge by giving a lot of screen time to the challenge losers before the challenge. I said to my wife that we know which tribe is going to TC. I think the problem with this season's bunch is that they all seem to be the typical cookie cutter survivors. There is no one who stands out either physically or personality wise. Maybe that will develop over the season.

I was excited for just two tribes, but GI is terrible and boring. And because of GI we are back to one challenge per episode for both reward and immunity. Not a fan of that either.

The physical people usually stand out when the tribes are smaller or they are playing for individual idols. There are too many people right now on each team for them to really stand out. You can usually spot the physically weak though.

Should’ve had more Donathan. Everyone knows him from the first week, and he was on the losing tribe, but he was barely featured.

Yes! I watched most of it at work during lunch, streaming from CBS.com. I thought the mix was terrible. I'd turn it up to hear the voices, and then the music only sections blasted my ears.

I like that they brought back James' huge hidden immunity idol plaque. No easily hiding that thing in your pants. The second one is bound to show up, isn't it?
