I've replaced my old flaky rebooting Tivo with a shiny new one, which now has my Season Passes and my /var/hack hierarchy.

Old Tivo now has no TV source input, and I'm keeping it powered up to watch the prog backlog (programmes, not Yes, ELP, King Crimson etc.).

How do I stop it trying to record that which it can not see?
If I Clear Programme Data, will that wipe the details of the items in Now Playing?
    Any other options?

    All helpful replies gratefully received.

A complete guess but if you deselected all of the channels you receive would it not then stop recording??

How about clearing out wishlists and SPs etc?

delete season passes / wishlists using Tivoweb, or set the TiVo clock to a date in the future so it believes it has no guide data, assuming its not connected to dial up & reset the clock

BTW Thanks everyone, for the replies. :)
I did look at that, but with over 100, I was hoping for a less laborious method.
Alas the CacheCard is now in the new Tivo...

I'll Clear Programme Data and hope I don't lose all the info for current Now Playing progs.

How about using Messages and Setup/Customise Channels/Channels you Receive and selecting "Remove all channels"?
This looks like it should be a quick and simple way to make the Tivo think that it can't record anything for you. (But I admit I haven't tried this!).

Remember the shortcut "clear" for delete works in the SP manager screen too (as elsewhere on tivo).

So you could press "clear then select" 10+ times to delete all of them.
Still a lot of keypresses though.

    Thanks, Mike.

    Actually, I had forgotten that!

As you say, though, a lot of remote bashing.

OK, I can put it off no longer, Clear Programme Data here I come.
