My suggestion is to leave it to the mods to decide what shouldn't be hear. It's the self appointed policemen that get everyone so riled up.

It seems to be that you're not allowed to like the TIVO and say the HR20 is OK, it's a DNA thing :)

Actually this is incorrect. You can easily still tune to the SD version.
If you punch 202 and it goes to the HD version. Channel up goes to the SD version.

Also, unless you've filtered it out, if you bring up the guide both HD and SD will be there.

And you will most definately have to switch any series links to the HD version, it's a different channel.

While I don't mind non-Tivo talk here the mods and owners have said for over 2 years now that DBSTalk is the forum to go to talk about non-Tivo DVRs (see the sticky at the top of this forum). That's just the way it is. This is a Tivo forum sponsored by Tivo so it's understandable. Plus it's a hostile place because any post on the HR20 must be against Tivo (not the case but it's what the haters believe).

And you may not realize but DBSTalk is owned by the same guy that runs/owns AVS and this very Tivo forum (until recently). It was ment to be the place for non-Tivo talk. And frankly it is now *the* place on the Interent for DirecTV information, period. This place used to be but hasn't for a couple years now.

So come on over to DBSTalk. The odd HR20 thread gets tolarated here but DBSTalk is the place you need to go for DirecTV and HR20 information and help. This place isn't for that. And you won't be attacked by the likes of the DirecTV haters. Most of the people over there used to be the "core" posters here. But they migrated as things changed.

Is this supposed to be clever and funny?  If so, please explain the "it's a DNA thing" comment since I don't understand. Thanks.

It is terribly clever and terribly funny and way above your comprehension.

Truth is that I don't know why it was worth the time to type your response.

I agree that the hostility is unwarranted, but the title of this forum is "DirecTV HDTV TiVo Powered PVRs". Also, your refusal to join DBSTalk is shortsighted on your part. There is a lot of info there which you can't get here.

Try and explain it to me anyway. Does DNA stand for something else besides the obvious? Is it an inside joke? Is it an evolution reference? Seriously, I just want to know what you were trying to say, especially if it was funny.

I see that, but surely the question is still relevant to TIVO powered PVRs, too. It's not like I was requesting technical data on the HR20. I've re-read my original post several times, and I can't see why it's not relevant to this forum topic.

Thanks, most of you, for helping with the question though!

Would hazard a guess it is because the old D* TIVO powered DVR's cannot get the new channels, so the question is not applicable at all

has anyone figured out a way to tell if your existing SL was on the HD channel or not?

while setting it up, sometimes i forget if i did the HD channel and yes i can press back. But why isnt there a way 'in' the SL to tell you have the hd channel?

That's a ford question... this is a chevy site... why don't you go ask the ford experts at their ford site?

So are you suggesting Chevy's are better than Ford's :)

There seems to be a thawing in hostilities these days
