'instantly recognizable with paparrazi and fans chasing him rock star' ? No. probably not.

    'famous rock star' ? yes.

Jack White as more Grammys, tho :)

I had no idea who he was... I looked him up on wikipedia. He's in Linkin Park. So if you had asked if we knew who Linkin Park was, I think FAR more people would say yes. (You could say the same thing about Jack White.. though of course the White -> White Stripes connection is more obvious.)

(Though, to nitpick, that makes him a rap "star", not a rock star.)

Anyone buy the album? I'd like to get one, just as a souvenir, but I don't even have a record player any more so I'd have absolutely no way to play it. I'll probably grab the song off iTunes, but it's not the same.

Your first quote is more how I define famous, like the 5 out of 20 people on the street could pick him out of a lineup.

    Winning Grammys means something? ;)

See, while I'm 43, I still buy new rock albums including the White Stripes. I still listen to my older crap too. My last 4 downloads were:

Adelita's Way - Home School Valedictorians
    Rise Against - Endgame
    Foo Fighters - Wasting Light

and to relive my hairband years:

Black 'N Blue - Ultimate Collection: Black 'N Blue

and of course I am forced to listen to Katy Perry and Ke$ha when I'm driving my daughter around.

But you're right, arguing about rock stars here is about as pointless as any other thread!
