I was only able to watch the opening teaser through the opening credits this morning before heading to work, but it looks great! So great to see Picard playing poker with Data in Ten Forward of the Enterprise-D. And Picard's discussion of Data's "Tell".

Looking forward to watching the rest of it today, and the discussion about it here.

I liked Discovery, especially the 2nd season, but this is going to be so much better!

One stupid issue, 10 forward was in the wrong place.

Interesting first episode but a little slow in developing the story.

This. I was a little disappointed to tell the truth. But I was expecting a lot.

They've been very transparent that this will be more of a character-driven series...he won't even say "engage" until the third or fourth episode.

I try to avoid pre-show articles like that.

This was like getting a really good warm pair of socks for Christmas. Good socks! That's about all I can say for it for now.

Not giving up on it for sure.

There are really no spoilers in either of those two linked articles...other than the name of his dog :) and which old STNG characters will appear.

I don't care. I want to be as "ignorant" as possible going into it as I can be. I do watch the previews though.

Even as something as simple as "This will be character driven" is too much for me because it puts me in a certain mindset when watching it. I want to be pretty much a tabula rasa when seeing it the first time.

I personally liked the fact it was a slower story to develop. The most recent Trek movies and even Discovery, to me, are basically Fast & Furious in space.
If this is the type of show we are to expect going forward, sign me up for as many seasons as they can make!

I enjoyed that. A lot. There's some interesting concepts floating around in this series. Nice to get answers about B4 and what happened to him. Nice name check on Maddox as well. IOW if we'll see hm later this season as the actor Brian Brophy appears not to have acted since 2014.

So the Romulans appropriated a defunct Borg Cube?
    Nothing nefarious there right?

Ok, I'm going to say it.
I haven't had high hopes for this series because I don't trust the Kurtzman machine, especially after the flaming dung heap that was the last third (or so) of Discovery's Second Season.

That said, I'd probably watch Patrick Stewart read the telephone book because he's that good and I watched this with lowered expectations.

And I thought that my skepticism was warranted after we saw Data wearing a "First Contact" uniform while in the Enterprise-D Ten Forward.
But since it turned out to be a dream so, ok.

So if I have this correct, the Federation basically turned racist (or should that be speciest?) after an unexplained attack by synthetic life forms on Mars.
Ok, central mystery established with some intriguing ideas being thrown around about Data and artificial intelligence/life forms.

    You've got my attention.

I didn't much care for the theme song, but at least I didn't hate it, so there's that. (Yes, I'm talking about you, "Where My Heart Will Take Me")
