The speaking spanish could have been intended to make Tara think it was the mexicans.

In other words, she would have been released later.

Also note that tho they had guns, and had Jax dead to right, they never fired.

    The quote was:
By keeping it "in house" and public, Clay doesn't become a martyr and looked up to much like JT is.

Clay is screwed. The way he crapped the beat out of Gemma combined with what happened to Tara is sure to push Jax over the edge. Especially if Gemma tells Jax about Clay taking the cash, then putting it back. Then to make sure the job gets done, she (or Unser) convinces Opie that Clay killed Piney. Between Jax, Opie and Bobby (he'll be in when he hears about Clay killing Piney) Clay's time is running out.

I thought Gemma said Clay had to die by the hand of "his" son, meaning Jax. I went back and turned on CC and you're right, she did say by A Son. So yeah, could be any of the SOA, not just Jax. My mistake.

Wow. All Gemma has to do is call Jax and tell him about Piney, Tara and her busted up face. Of course, it won't go down that simply.

I also wondered why the hitmen didn't just shoot Tara. Didn't one of them speak English when he took his mask off. That hit made no sense to me on the whole since there's no way the hit man should have been able to track Jax and Tara down in the first place.

The whole way the attempted hit on Tara played out made no sense to me. Why would they attempt to abduct Tara and not just kill her on the spot? And how can Jax not be suspicious that it wasn't really the other Cartel that tried to take Tara. If it was the rival cartel why would they have hesitated to kill both Jax and Tara right before they fled. Jax put himself between Tara and the guy with the gun. The guy could have easily just shot them both. The other Cartel would have had no problem shooting them. That has to give jax some suspicion that the abduction was done by someone who wants Tara out of the way but doesn't want jax dead.

One thing I really like about this show is that when people do stupid things, I usually get the feeling it's stupid characters, not stupid writers.

That wouldn't really fit though since Jax isn't his son.

I think all this (Tara's hand, Jemma, Clay, Opie) do in fact lead to Jax taking over and the show living on with Jax at the lead.

I think Unser kills Clay. Unser is dying anyway, loves Jemma, will learn to hate Clay for this and all the past crap. I think Unser kills Clay and then kills himself.

Dang, you mean we've all been discussing the wrong thing? When we should have been discussing some other show with a similar title that airs tonight?!?

All it would take to get rid of Clay at this point would be for the truth to come out about Teller, Piney, Tara and beating Gemma. If the group at large knew about all of this they'd be pushing each other out of the way to get to him. The tidiest would be for Unser to just shoot him, but that would wrap things up too quickly.

Gemma's dilemma is how to let Jax know about Clay's hand in killing his father w/o revealing too much about her duplicity in the matter. She knows Jax would just take Tara and the kids and she'd never see them again.

What hasn't been commented on yet is the fact that the Cartel lied about not being in contact with the hitman. That, the kidnapping instead of a more direct killing and the fact that they are now insisting she be killed (without payment) implies they have their own agenda besides helping out Clay.

With all of Clay's issues and the extra shootings and problems going on due to the relationship with the Cartel, the whole "Juice as a mole for the feds" is like a half-interesting anecdote.

    Exactly.

I'm talking about the show with Jemma, Jacks, Terra and Cley. Not sure what y'all are watching.

I wish Tara and Gemma would go, one way or another. I don't like either character and I think Maggie Siff is horrible.

I agree, if this season doesn't end with Clay's death, then I'm definitely clueless as to what happens with him. Only thing I can think of is he goes and starts a rival crew but that wouldn't be nearly as satisfying. This entire season has been building to his demise, and before this episode the only thing he had going for him was Gemma being in his corner because she was fiercely protective. They blew the door off that when she pulled a gun on him, and then even moreso in the last scene w/ Unser. She wants him dead, and she wants the club to do it.

I thought the hit was kind of weird too but damn was it a good scene. MY hand hurt when that van door slammed on hers, and it was sad to watch her deteriorate later. A heart surgeon having her dominant hand crushed--I thought Maggie Siff did an awersome job in those scenes. I also loved the little exchange between Margaret and Gemma. I have no idea why but I love that random hospital administrator.

I'm not sure how yet, but I think Roosevelt is gonna take Potter out. However that storyline plays out for the remaining episodes, it'll be him that pulls the trigger.

I think if this were the last season of the show, I'd be totally satisfied--it's that good. I still can't figure out what the hell they can possibly do to top this next year because it seems like they'll be making some huge payoffs before this one is up.

Maybe not out, but down. I can see Potter ending up in prison.

With the Sons helping Roosevelt out.

And Roosevelt unwittingly becoming the new Unser.

The guy who plays Lincoln Potter is the epitome of creepy. I thought he was creepy in Deadwood and he's even creepier on SOA. He puts the "creep" in "creepy".
