Wow. The club's thisclose to falling apart. Just pull a couple of strings and look out. They've certainly fixed everything that was wrong with this show this season.

    Lila's still doing porn?

Was anybody being honest in this episode? Just about everybody lied to somebody.

Good episode. I still don't like the Juice as a Rat plot but I'm enjoying the internal strife this season. Good to see Georgie back lol. And the Hoff has a porn producer :)

The Juice subplot is the only bad part about this season so far. Motorcycle gangs mostly seem to be segregated but we've seen no evidence that SAMCRO is racist.

The Juice angle is misguided, there has been no background laid about SAMCRO having a racist view, hell they have a black guy in the gang don't they? A lot of this season seems thrown together and the preacher from Deadwood as a hippy US Attorney is a horrible miscast and mistake. Do the writers of the show know anything at all about the Department of Justice or the US Attorneys Office? They are not even remotely like that and do not operate like some wandering rogue investigative force. So dumb. BTW does Juice have AIDS? Why is he so emaciated?

I don't think they have any black members but they've done business with the black MC and of course the Mayans. So the thought that they would get rid of Juice because his dad, who he doesn't know and isn't around, is black, is ridiculous. Throw in a black sheriff who comments about a "lack of color" on the wall of pics of club members and then go down this plot line. Not necessary. All of the internal conflict of SAMCRO is plenty for this season. And while I like Ray McKinnon, I agree he's miscast here.

I'm still not convinced that the sheriff is right, and that Juice isn't somehow playing him.

I thought that too. But "stealing" that brick is a sticky situation. I have some thoughts on how that scene will play out but you never know what direction Sutter will go.

I found it kind of odd that there would only be 3 (2 SAMCRO, 1 Mayan) guarding that much drugs. I forgot the dollar amount but it was pure/uncut and worth quite a bit I would think. And prosepcts to boot? Actually are they still prospects. I don't recall seeing prosepct on their vests anymore, maybe they are now in since it's a year later. I don't know how long it takes or how long "half sac" was a prospect.

Has anyone else noticed how skinny Juice has gotten since the first few seasons? His head looks smaller. They are also cycling through so many actors from other FX and HBO shows, it's funny. Acevedo from the Shield, Lem,Ronnie, I am half expecting to see Vic and Shane join the show!! I thought Season 3's plot was kind of a mess, this one looks kind of sloppy as well...

Filthy Phil (the large guy) was patched while most of the club was in prison.

I don't remember exactly how it was revealed though.

The other prospect (the little one) is still a prospect for some reason.

I'm thinking that the DoJ guy is meant to represent "the ghost of John Teller", thematically. He seems like the sort of quasi-hippie, bike-riding old guy that JT might have become if things had gone the way he wanted. Though how that relates to his ruthless/manipulative side I'm not sure.

    Agreed.

    So bad.

This subplot is horrendous. SAMCRO deals with Mexicans, Blacks, Russians, Irish... and does so without one single instance of racism. They're actually quite cool and mellow about it. Simply no evidence of them being racist.

And they have members of different types in their gang. The Irish dude, the hispanic guy.

    Not buying it at all.

And then the acting of hiding the brick, falling asleep(?!?), caving to the Sheriff. All quite lame.

    Please be true.

The club has proven to be quite able to turn the tables and it could be quite possible that Juice told the gang everything immediately and they're doing a "keep your enemies closer" thing.

    I'm holding out hope.

Add me as someone who hates the Juice subplot. Even if the club was racist, the backlash would be a lot less than being found out as a rat. Even a double-cross is lame after last season.

Interesting subplot with Gemma and Clay playing each other. I'm really worried for Tara, though.

I would be 1000% ok with this because it's by far the worst story direction they've taken. At first I was praying it would only last an episode or two but it keeps getting more and more screen time. Easily the stain on what is an otherwise excellent season.

That said, I learned to never, ever judge a season of this show until the credits of the finale roll, because Sutter has a plan. I am gonna hate the plot for now, but leave room for the likelihood that it will all pan out. The plot is so poorly done that I feel like there has to be a plan, because Sutter is too awesome to think this is good.

As I watched the episodes I decided to make note of all the lies going on this season...for fun:

*Clay tells Jax he can walk clean and Opie will get the president's patch.
*Clay tells Jax that he won't tell the club about Jax's desire to leave.
*Clay tells Bobby about Jax's desire to leave and that he can have pres patch.
*Tara keeps JT's letters from Jax.
*Gemma finds out about letters accidentally, and Tara lies about their existence.
*Clay asks Wayne to get the letters and not tell Gemma.
*Gemma asks Wayne to get the letters and not tell Clay.
*Wayne burns the letters and lies to Clay about what is in them.
*Wayne tells Gemma the letters are gone and leaves out the fact that Clay has seen them.
*Gemma tells Clay that the letters were destroyed and are gone forever so there's no risk.
*Clay doesn't tell Gemma that he knows she's full of ****.
*Tara lies to Clay about the letters.
*Wayne is likely gonna lie to someone in his attempt to protect Tara.
*Lyla lies to Opie about being on the pill.
*Bobby lies to Otto about killing Georgie.
*DA guy (no clue on name) lies to the deputy about striking his name from the record.
    *Juice lies to everyone.
*Piney uses Clay's lies to blackmail him into stopping the drug runs.

And it's only episode 5... It's just so damn fractured... They're laying the groundwork for what seems like the total disbandment of SAMCRO, which would make this a great final season storyline.... since I'm almost certain it's not the final season, I really can't see where they'd go after all of this comes to a head (the JT story has been brewing since the pilot if I remember right, and will surely be the point of no return once it's out).

I think the Juice subplot is a very valid story. The problem with it is that Kurt Sutter never laid the groundwork for the audience to know that SAMCRO might have a serious problem with race. None of them have ever come across as racist. They've played well in the criminal sandbox with just about every ethnic group America has to offer so far. I can see the Sons not recruiting Juice in the first place if they knew he was part black because motorcycle gangs seem to be segregated. But I can't see them disowning him for finding out about it now. Plus, he's the only one of these guys with computer hacking skills. I think Sutter should have dropped a number of racial disharmony clues this year and gone with the full Juice subplot next year.
