They are doing a top 20. They will bring back the All-Stars after they get to the top 10. I can live with that. Only having a top 10 last year was stupid in my opinion.

Ricky Jamie is in the top 20.
Miranda is in the top 20.
Melanie Moore is in the top 20.
Abigail and Kaitlin are not in the in the top 20.
Sasha is in the top 20, but sister Natalya is not.

First group in perform a Stacey Tookey contemporary routine. I thought they all did very well.

Forgive me on the spelling of the names, till I get used to them. :)

Chris Cole is in the top 20.
Wadi and Tadd made the top 20.
Virgil is not in the top 20.
Drace is not in the top 20.
Robert Taylor Jr. made the top 20.
    Professor Bryce did not.

Group 2 perform a Dave Scott hip hop routine. Another very good performance.

Lenny is not in the top 20.
Iveta is in the top 20.

Iveta is dancing with Pasha in a Jason Gilkison routine. A very sexy routine.

Clarice is in the top 20.
Bridgett is not in the top 20.
Tae Kwon did not make it.
Marko made it into the top 20.
Jordan is in the top 20.
Missy is also in the top 20.

Group 3 perform a Sonya Tayeh jazz routine. I thought it was another nice performance. So far I'm very impressed with this seasons make up.

Cat looking as ravishing as usual.

Jess is in the top 20.
Nick is in the top 20.

Routine by Christoper Scott. I'm not a big tap fan but this was very entertaining.

Caitlynn is in the top 20.
Ashley is in the top 20.
Michell is in the top 20.
Jeremiah is not in the top 20. The guy comes off as very cocky. I think that's his problem.
Alexander is in the top 20.
Alexa is not in the top 20.
Ryan(female) is in the top 20.

Last 5 dance a Travis Wall routine. Another very nice performance.

Top 10 guys hip hop performance choreographed by Christopher Scott. Very nice performance! LOL did Nigel just take a jab at Idol?

Top 10 girls perform Sonya Tayeh routine. Another odd Sonya routine but I thought they all danced it great. Really looking to be a girls year this time around.

Top 20 dance a Tyce Diorio routine. Really looks like a very strong season! Can't wait!

I don't know what episode this was (certainly earlier than this) but can someone tell me the name of the song that the gal from Japan auditioned with? Very techno-electronic and pretty cool.

I like how they did the reveal this yeart. Having them dance live was awesome! Gives us a chance to get to know them before the first performance show.

The camera loves Melanie. And Urkel too!

Iveta ukashuta....kind of rolls of the tongue nicely, doesn't it. I give good odds that she makes the jump to DWTS next season/year.

This is going to be a great season.

what a great show...man, i know they all did their own styles pretty much, but every one of them was quite good. I hope that keeps up in the later rounds.

I thought Pasha and Iveta were heavenly- he can come visit my teevee screen any day of the week. I think Iveta would benefit by putting on a few pounds, though, as her face looks very old and I'm not sure the voting demo of this show will support that.

I love love loved the boys group number. They could have benefited from additional practice because there were some sync issues but as a whole that routine rocked. That tall tapping boy Nick came out of nowhere and stole the show as far as I am concerned- he has personality and clearly can do many styles. Loved the tap choreo, and love that tap will be featured this year. IMO they should make all the flaily girls* tap the same way they make the tap people flail.
Bullet boy (Marko?) was also drawing my eye even with hammer pants :D He's a bit of all right.
    And Alexander?
    Where did that come from?

*I'm not the biggest contemporary fan in the world so many of the girls are all running together for me. I've had enough angsty girls in nighties to last me the rest of my life.

And finally, WTF is Robin Antin doing on this show?
    Who did she ****, seriously.
IMO she has nothing to offer, is no sort of dance expert (America's Favorite Slut contest, maybe), and is taking up space I would far rather see someone else in.
She sucks all the class right out of any judging panel IMO and needs to go away now.
    UGH.

    ETA:
Had to add this so we can all be happy!!

I honestly have no idea who Robin is/was, other than weird collagen lips. And I dislike her enough I am not even going to waste time to google her.

Agree totally on the boys out of sync & tap guy, he clearly had skills in lots of areas.

lol flaily girls. The prob w/ the contemporary is they all do the same angsty moves, the "run forward and reach", the "one arm up and the head looking down in sadness", etc.

    Thanks!

I was there when Robin was putting this together. (circa 1997?) My best man's girlfriend of the time was an original member, I was dating a member and they opened up for his band at The Viper Room. They just danced to pre-recorded music.

Then they added Christian Applegate and got more popular by adding gals who already had celebrity names. Then one day, they are writing songs? Pretty cool. But, yes she has done a number on her face.

Iveta Lukosiute. Check out this video from the ballroom round of one of her earlier Vegas weeks, where the contestants did a cha-cha to "Disturbia" choreographed by Louis van Amstel. Iveta is dancing with krumper Russell Ferguson (cha-cha is at 5:34 on the video). Smokin' hot.

Iveta would be great on DwtS -- her 'instant partnership' with Russell was fabulous -- much like the great partnership that happened with Charlotte Jorgensen and John O'Hurley on S1 of DwtS.

If Iveta makes it to the top ten, we could see Russell dancing with Iveta again.

I want to see Iveta and Russell doing a cha-cha again -- and I want to see them krumping. Do you hear me, Nigel? You showed us the tease -- now pay up. :p

A lot of people have stated over the years that they can't stand to watch the auditions.

    I have to watch.

Part of the reason is to see Vegas week segments like the one with Russell and Iveta that I just linked in above -- and the other is not to miss auditions like this:

Edited to add: I'd love to know who choreographed this audition, because it's one of the best showcases I've ever seen.

How many dancers have we seen go out and have some song playing in the background and they run across the stage and flail and throw in every trick in their bag of tricks? And when they're done, you've seen a lot of tricks, and you say, where was the dancing part? This audition is nothing like that.

I've seen other dancers come out and say they were going to do a sexy routine, and then what they do is hideously overdanced. Jordin doesn't do that -- she pitches it perfectly. But if you can put aside the stunning performance quality and the musicality, look at the content. She's got great stage coverage; there is really nice elevation in the jumps, and a wonderful lightness there. She shows good extensions and there's nice balance and control in all those moves. And they're all placed beautifully against the music for maximum impact. It's a brilliant, brilliant audition piece.

I especially love, as Mary did, the self-confidence in the piece. She dances like she has all the time in the world. Nothing is rushed or hurried. You need that sense of taking your time to get the sensuality this song calls for. And she fills out each bar beautifully.

She doesn't need to wear a goofy outfit, or have goofy hair (although if that's not a three-figure haircut, I'll eat my hat). She's not afraid to show that she's got a bit of a poofy stomach. She just goes out in a simple outfit and lets the dancing speak for itself.

    Stunning.

I always thought that Russell played as well as he did in his season in large part because of that audition piece with Iveta- that's when everyone sat up and said "Well he can dance!"
That was simply great chemistry- the whole was greater than the sum of its parts.

If she doesn't keep that three figure haircut hair out of her face I swear someone is liable to cut it the heck off- that's distracting as all get out.

I wonder how many of them were probably good enough to make the Top 20 but somebody thought that another year of work would make them potential winners (or at least more likely tour candidates).

I'm a little surprised two dancers at the upper end of the age limit made it (Robert Taylor Jr. is now 31, and Iveta Lukosiute is 30 - yes, the maximum age is 30, but it's based on the first day of your audition).
    Here's the age breakdown:
    Girls: 18, 18, 19, 19, 19, 19, 20, 22, 23, 30
    Guys: 18, 19, 19, 20, 21, 21, 22, 24, 25, 31
Note that everybody older than 23 is either a hip-hop/breaker or ballroom specialist.

What's the over/under on how many of the top 20 end up appearing in a "rival show choir" on Glee next season?

This is the point where I lose interest in the show. I love when they do their own dances, I get so bored when they have to do the choreography.

I assume the results shows will still have the "dance for your life" rounds.
