I never heard of Timothée Chalamet and still don't really know who he is or care. I already knew I wouldn't like the musical guest and skipped over him. The music I did like on this episode was performed by Melissa Villaseñor as Dolly Parton, and on the Dionne Warwick talk show where the songs didn't last nearly long enough. Mostly she interviewed people I've never heard of.

I thought whoever did Questlove did a really good job, even if I wasn't familiar enough with him to know what a good job was, but the host thanked him at the end so that settled that. He and "Queen Latifah" were right about hip hop, and I mean their opinion of those two white guys, not the positive statements they made.

The virus sketch was one of the funniest things I've seen about the virus so far, rivaled only by that one "Superstore" episode.

I also liked the sports talk show where they praised the Jets.

This time Kate couldn't stop laughing and it really did seem like Colin was saying something that was in the script. But the last time it happened I really think it wasn't planned.

The cold open was pretty good but I was hoping for something funnier.

The Newsmax/Jets bit was the funniest bit they've done in ages. I laughed so hard that I almost had an asthma attack. It helps that I live in NY so am VERY familiar with the Jets plight, and, of course the political issue it was lampooning.

Loved the musical guest....but of course Bruce is my favorite.

I too had no idea who the guest host was, and he looked like he was about 15. He was fine. Love the rona virus bit too.

As for WU. I have to wonder if the first time they see the script is when it goes live. They crack up reading it. Kate completely lost it, and that was funny, but the bit itself was kind of dumb.

All in all, a good episode.

LOL. The guy who did Questlove was Questlove. He works in the building.

It's funny because I said, that's really him, and my son said, no, it was Kennan Thompson, Questlove is not that big. Turned out I was right.

The funny thing about the Jets sketch is I was just thinking earlier last week what if this whole alternate reality thing applies to sports... maybe it's just a matter of time... and I actually thought about the Jets.

The Lexus commercial was great, and I couldn’t stop laughing at the tiny horse.

For probably 10 years now, I watch SNL the same way. I watch the opening, occasionally the monologue (depending on who it is), then ff to Weekend Update, then delete. If I happen to notice a commercial or video short while I'm ff'ing, I'll usually check it out (like this episodes Lexus one)

But, for the Boss? I watched both musical segments.

I thought it was Kenan at first but he didn't talk like Kenan. It was then that I realized he hadn't been on this week.

But the host thanked Questlove. That's when I knew it was really him.

Yang is in every episode. Why isn't he in the main cast in the opening?

It's a traditional seniority thing that has applied for a long time to every cast member. You have to be in the "featuring" ensemble cast for a certain amount of time (a couple of years?) before being promoted to the main cast. Chloe Fineman is in the same boat and has been getting good exposure lately as well.

I recently read David Spade's book (I'm a big fan of Spade) and the chapters he did about his time on SNL were really interesting. Part of what he described was about this type of seniority thing with the show.

Wow.. I didn't listen to the songs in full (but I did download the show and edit out those recordings to save).. but the bits I listened to made me think "Wow, he's still rocking".. Because even Bon Jovi isn't as "rocking" as he (Jovi) was (though heck, he was less rocking even in the 90s than he was in the 80s).. and Springsteen is over 10 years older. Though even Springsteen has had some mellow songs.

I thought the tiny horse was _weird_.

I barely know who the host is (I think he was in that call me your name movie?), but I always appreciate it when they have someone *else* doing an impersonation of the host on the show.

He's a very well known young actor. Already been nominated for an Oscar (at the ripe age of 22). He's playing the lead (Paul Atreides) in the upcoming Dune movie. He hosted SNL because he's an entertaining young person, who's really good at what he does, and liked by millions of people.

    Bruce is Bruce. The Boss.

And now I'll get off your lawn.:D

It was interesting that when I sat and watched an episode of S2, "The Not Ready for Prime Time players had 6 people....John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Laurainne Newman, Garret Morris, Jane Curtin and Dan Ackroyd (this was after Chevy left...though he was in that episode and before Bill Murray joined later in the season). The were still able to do a full 90 minutes. There were a couple of the writers who did cameos and the music segment was extended (this was the episode where Paul Simon dressed as a Turkey, and George Harrison joined him as a musical guest). Nowadays it takes them half the show to announce the full cast, the full players, the featuring cast, and the host and musical guest. What a change.

In an era in which tv show opening theme music has dramatically shrunk, SNL's opening takes waaayyy to long for me. I fast forward through it.

I just basically watch for Weekend Update but the Dr. Weknowdis and Dolly Parton Christmas segments were not funny at all to me, especially Dr. Weknowdis.

The only thing funny about Dr. Weknowdis was that Kate couldn't keep a straight face. We know Che and Jost lose it every week, no matter what, but Kate generally keeps it together.

I also fast-forward through the opening theme. Since it's the same thing every week. But there has been some great stuff there over the years, as I see at 10:00 most weeks.
Weknowdis. It could be funnier. Only because Kate broke up each time was there anything worthwhile about it.
