I'm on CenturyLink and just got a new modem/router (Greenwave C4000XG) because the old one failed.
Everything on my network seems to work just fine except my two Tivos (a Bolt OTA & a Roamio) stopped connecting for service. The TCP & DNS tests succeed but it fails real quick when at the negotiating step. It gives the C117 error. My "Tivo Online" works just fine but I'm assuming that's because they use a different server. I took my Bolt over to my brothers house (Comcast network) and it works just fine there so I don't think there is any setting amiss on my Tivo's. I talked with a CenturyLink tech for an hour and he couldn't find anything wrong with settings or blocked ports on the CenturyLink side.
Even though the Tivo TCP tests pass when I try checking if the required ports are open using another utility (iNetTools) only two of the required ports appear to be open (80 & 443). I also tried using the "nc -vz" command from a terminal window to check port status. I can't see that the C4000XG has any ports being blocked. When I try pinging the sls.tivoservice.com it takes too long and doing a traceroute just times out after about 6 hops. In looking at the C4000XG web log I can see that the Tivo is trying to access sls.tivoservice.com and immediately after tries 0.66.0.0 (not sure why), then a couple of seconds later it accesses 204.176.49.116 which belongs to MCI Communications Services.
One other note, when they installed the new router, I believe they also changed something upstream as it didn't work after they first installed it.

I think the problem must lie with the new Router or with CenturyLinks upstream routers since it works just fine on Comcast's network. Anyone suggest a way to verify which router has the problem?
Or how to trace/watch the traffic to see where it's getting hung up?

    Thanks,
    Tone

    An update...
I called tivo and they told me there is a know issue that may be causing this, started about the first of February.
Anyone know if there are any diagnostic utilitys that can be invoked from the Tivo to trace connections to the sls.tivoservice.com?

I just did a "whois" on it. Which probably doesn't give a specific enough answer.
