Just for fun I recorded Resident Alien on SyFy last night and it had SM.
I am not getting SM on the ABC game shows.
No skip mode at all last night on any recorded show on any channel on any Tivo.
The skip monkeys were celebrating Valentine's Day.
More and more I find no skip on anything recorded. Looking at My Shows, the last thing with Skip was shark tank on the 12th. I've recorded plenty since then but no skip.
I haven't recorded much, but nothing with Skip.
No skip on anything again yesterday, Friday was the last night with skip for me, maybe they took the holiday weekend off?
I'm betting on the weather. No SM since Friday night. Exception being The Tonight Show.
But add this. Sunday night I recorded NCIS: Los Angeles. It had SM. Today it's gone. So either the Skip Monkeys are off ice fishing, or there is a technical problem. If I move a program with SM, the destination doesn't have it. It's not specific: ABC, Fox, NBC, CBS, Comedy Central are all affected.
A quiz - My TE3 devices didn't get skip and I'm not a believer that 'Skip Monkeys' exist so ............. would TE4 devices that are supposed to do 'AUTO SKIP' have the same failures OR maybe still work?
Skip Monkeys exist. The skips are programmed by actual people, and that's who "Skip Monkeys" refers to. I believe they're in one of the Carolinas? And isn't that an area that's been getting clobbered lately? Weather might not be a bad theory.
I'm pretty sure Skip Mode for TE 3 & 4 use the same data.
No skip icon after the program's name means no SM. I need to move a program on TE3 to my TE4 machine to see what happens.
You would need to have an active TE4 device to actually compare. Moving content from TE3 to TE4 device accomplishes nothing definitive regarding my question.
A year or so ago the Premieres lost SKIP on already recorded material, many complained and posted the same failure. A day or two later SKIP was pushed back to those Premieres and was functional again.
I ain't believing 'SKIP MONKEYS'
If I were a TE4 Bolt or Edge user and paying monthly I'd be after Rovi/Tivo hard. TE4 was promoted and sold as 'AutoSkip' enabled. A half dozen failures in a month I'd be looking for credits!
I believe this would be a reasonable check if Skip Monkeys exist!
If an Xfinity user with an XG1V4 that records same/similar network content as I use Tivo for (I have XG1V4 but use it for selective event recordings) had 'Smart Resume' information on their recordings it might be considered confirmation Tivo/Rovi don't employ 'Skip Monkeys'. If they are also missing Smart Resume info then a technical issue.
I doubt Comcast/Tivo-Rovi would share 'Skip Monkey' labor!
User @DeltaOne might be a someone that does XG1V4 network recordings
My TE4 box has no cable card so I can't test that. It will perform manual or auto-skip on a file moved to it via Online. It will perform the same on a file living on my TE3 boxes.

Wednesday 'Prime Time' is pretty active on all major networks. I believe I might set recordings for this evening using the Xfinity XG1V4 to compare happenings.
It's odd I'd think that 2/12 CBS would only catch a portion of their schedule. If there were 'Skip Monkeys' the only explanation of that would be a 'work stoppage/walk-out'!
I haven't gotten skip on anything since 2/9. Yeah, a week ago. Nothing on my Bolt (OTA) or Roamio Plus (Cable). I've even rebooted both machines. Both are TE3. I have tons of recordings every night during primetime across the major networks.
2/9 is wrong. Looks like 2/11. Thanks Rob.
I don't record a ton of stuff on the main networks any more, but the last thing I have with Skip was Clarice on 2/11.
Yeah, so did I! I guess I was wrong about 2/9. I had it for Hell's Kitchen on 2/11 too, and Walker, but not Legacies. Also had it for some stuff on 2/10, Goldbergs, Tough as Nails.
I had it for MacGyver and Magnum PI on Fri 2/12. That is definitely the latest though.
Blacklist on Friday 2/12 was the last for me. Still hoping that this is weather related and not something more dreadful.
