Skip not available on shows recorded tonight

That probably didn't bring back skip mode. That just brought back the skip mode icons. At least that's how a known bug works.

Another known problem is that old shows that had skip mode lose it and then suddenly get it back again.

Sometimes, even if the skip mode icon is missing, you can still use it and it will work.

In any case, a UI refresh doesn't hurt and takes only seconds.

 

I think I hit one of those on Sunday. 60 Minutes had a double show. Neither recording showed the skip icon but both had the chime when playing and using the channel up button it would skip properly. The problem was when I tried to process it with kmttg's auto-skip it said there was no skip data. Maybe the UI refresh would have answered the missing icon. Perhaps kmttg has an issue with reading all skip mode situations?

One thing that eludes me is that, when I got my first Bolt (going from Premieres) and first had 'skip', I remember seeing something that outlined what channels had 'skip'. So, ok.

But on network channels where I record prime time dramas/sitcoms and usually (when they don't screw it up) have skip, on the same network* channels any daytime shows I record never ever have skip.

How is that or am I just confused? (wouldn't be the first time today)

*network channels = ABC, CBS, NBC (in case anybody of a younger persuasion is not familiar with that connotation)

 

Not even a restart. Also, I'm using two basic Roamio boxes that were using 20.7.4.RC18 until this morning. I do restart/reboot/power cycle everything on the first day of every month.

 

I prefer to use "broadcast channels" for those with OTA and "network channels" for the rest. There is always overlap.

As for the SM criteria -> Popup - SkipMode channels in addition to having some TiVo person showing up to add the things to a program that need the stuff that make SM work. There always seems to be some point of failure.

when my skip mode was working..my reruns of seinfeld and rules of engagement had skip mode on them

 

My oldest SM repeat is NCIS: Los Angeles with OAD of 3/29/11 and recorded 6/25/17 at 7am on USA network. Very strange.

 

There are exceptions to the "Primetime & Network only" rule. I usually get SM on "Jeopardy!", which is neither.

 

I don't recall every seeing that rule. I always went by 4pm to midnight. The SM failure web page also has its time from 4pm to 11:30pm. But I do find it odd that game shows are included. I never expect it on nightly network news shows either.

But I am guilty of only checking for SM on prime time. I think that's because I am usually watching real time TV weekdays and recordings on weekends.

 

Wednesday summary.
Prime time & late night on ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox. One TBS and one SyFy.
TBS was Full Frontal. SyFy was Krypton.

SM ok on 17 programs. Failure on one. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert failed. It does that sometimes. Three down, two to go.

 

Jeopardy shows here on ABC at 7:30pm which is between 4:00pm and midnight and on a so that would seem to be covered by the rules?

No Skip on Property Brothers last night on HGTV. I am now back to filling out the survey on a weekly basis again. Skip was working so good for a number of months and as of 3 weeks ago I am having various shows that have no skip.
