Loving this show. We watch it same-day, almost always.

Usually I'm meh on kids in TV shows but these kids are absolutely great.

The most recent episode had no kids, which I found appropriate for a show called Single 'Parents'.

That said, I really don't mind the kids, a couple of them are really amazing actors. If the show does get a second season, I look forward to them dropping Miggy. He doesn't bring much to the table, and his kid is a baby, not in school. Why's he even there?

Yeah, I don't get Miggy either. They seem like they are trying to make him like Jason on the Good Place - but it just doesn't work.

Miggy is there because he's staying in Poppy's guest house or something (and now works at her wine bar). So he hangs out with Poppy and her friends. I guess. I'm not sure how they know each other originally.

I don't mind him. He actually has some funny lines, but I agree it seems like a Jason knock-off.

Miggy just makes no sense at all. Why would someone like him be hanging out with these older parents? He seems like he should be pretty cool and he's good with the ladies. So why isn't he doing 20-something stuff rather than 30-40-something stuff?

I think the idea is that he is a single dad with a baby, which leaves him out of his 20-something cohort.

Also, it doesn't actually seem like Miggy is really all that good with the ladies. He just talks game.

Correct, and he admitted as much in one of the episodes. The one where Brad Garrett's character wanted to impress a redhead and Miggy was giving him advice. Which of course didn't work and Miggy admitted in the end he made up the play and he doesn't really know what to do because he's only been with and still in love with the mother of their child.

(I really like this show but caught up to it late so had to binge practically all episodes except the last 2 so they've pretty much blurred together and I'm still learning character names.)

From what I remember, the group (or at least the women) were in a store when they saw Miggy freaking out in the diaper aisle. When they found out his situation, they decided to take him under their wing.

Hmm, I hadn't commented in this thread before.. maybe it was in the new shows thread last year or something. Sometime last year, this was one of the shows I stopped watching fairly soon. I didn't think it was horrible, it just wasn't very funny, and I stopped watching (after I think 2-3 episodes).

For some reason a couple weeks ago (I think the reason was I saw that S1 was still available and the new season had started, so I thought it would expire sometime soon), I started watching it again, at the gym. It's still not very funny, but I did answer a Quora question about something like "what TV show do you keep watching and don't know why?" with this show...... and it replaces Brad Garrett's PREVIOUS show, 'Til Death as my "why am I watching this?" show.. which actually was a laugh riot compared to this (and I mean even in the 'revamped' format. In the _original_ format which lasted only IIRC part of the first of 4 seasons, it was pretty good)

But I didn't come here to thread dump (though I re-skimmed the thread and saw lots of people gave up way earlier).. It actually does seem a BIT better than most shows in terms of actually having continuity for a sitcom. Like even if someone isn't dating another person as a long term thing, it's not one episode and they're never heard of again, or other various subplots.

I finished S1 last night on the treadmill. I'll keep watching (there at least), but probably go back to dramas for a while.

Oh yeah, and Brad Garrett's character is supposed to only be 54!!! Yikes!

I enjoy it. It's not laugh out loud but I like all the characters.

It's not wall-to-wall hilarity but I do get some laughs from it. I will say that this season hasn't been as funny, for me, as last season. Not sure if it's me or them. I didn't get much from the Angie's bad boyfriend plot, at all. Still watching though.
