Should I stay or should I go now?

I have Direct TV with TiVo.

Cable in my area sucks, so I'm sticking with DTV (which I like)

I want to add a new DVR to one room that has an exisiting, old satellite box (got it back when Direct TV was Primestar).

Should I just keep the box I got, an buy a standalone DVR?

Can I buy a TiVo DVR and use it with it?

If I use DTV's box, it's no longer TiVo. I like TiVo, but are there others out there I might like better? Tivo has, as it's been said, changed the way I watch TV. Are the new DTV systems good, better, worse?

I could always upgrade one room and see if I like it and then upgrade the other to non-TiVo units. But if I can buy a standalone TiVo, that would be kind of cool too.

    Thoughts? Advice?

    TIA.

Yup! Hang in there as good things are coming!

I have the DirecTV DVR (HR20-100) and it works well.

The standalone HD TiVos don't work with DirecTV.

Thanks guys - 2009 isn't too long to wait - well, if it's not December 2009!

But given my current financial situation, waiting will probably be a necessity!

    Peace
