I agree, an easy way to have her in the finale without having her on set would have been to have the staff at the hospital find Fiona numbers in that basket of Frank's records to notify her as next of kin that Frank died. She could then called any of the other Gallagher's and since they were all together at Ian anniversary party they could have put her on speaker or switched to facetime so they could have a final cry and/or laugh.

I think a better was of bringing her into the finale would have been Lip calling her (Skype) to discuss the sale of the house (that’s in her name) and the custody of Liam (who she is the legal guardian), and having her instead of Ian saying “you can have my share”

For a while I really thought that the mysterious lady buying up the neighboring houses was Fiona (Due to some windfall) and Debbie/Carl/IA would each get their own house and Lip would keep the original.

Overall, I thought it a very good ending. It was unreasonable to hope the Gallaghers would all turn out happy but they all seemed to be at a good place. I fear Debbie has the roughest future. She has always been a super hard worker but her choice of mates has been troubled, to say the least. I did enjoy seeing all the kids in their earlier years, as Frank reminisced. Also loved him going back to his days as an altar boy. He must have been something!

As I began to watch the final episode I was thinking that it seemed rather meh. But as it went on, and we got to Frank's reminiscing and other things progressing, it was enjoyable.

I was glad they didn't have him die right there on the couch as everybody went on about their lives, waiting for him to be dead. That would have been kind of weird to me. I thought that the way they took it from there was well done.

Agree. And for a while I was annoyed that Debbie's daughter was ruining the treasure map where all the gold was hidden when I finally woke up and thought, What? Frank had gold in the back yard and never used it? But somehow he had me going...

Frank was a great character, superbly played by William Macy. I hope he can finally give his family a break after all these years and cut his hair and shave.

We just finished the last season after a binge during the last week or so. Somewhat satisfying ending to a show that has gone downhill quite a bit over the years with lazy writing and shoddy plot. Was hoping to at least see a cameo of Fiona in the finale. But as others said, it sets up some subsequent specials or movies featuring the Gallagher.

    RIP Francis.

I didn't expect Fiona to show up but Frank not even referencing her in his letter felt wrong.

Yeah, but that wasn't a really "nice" farewell letter to the kids.
Anyway, when Frank was dying and looked at the nurse, he thought it was Fiona, so she was on his mind in the end.
