My daughter has a Series 2 model TCD24004A with a lifetime subscription that she's used for years. It's connected to WOW basic analog cable straight out of the wall.

She's been notified that WOW is converting to all digital and she got the Digital Adapter they are supplying their customers. The adapter is connected to the wall cable and the output of the adapter is connected to the RF input on the TiVo. The adapter must be set to channel 3 or 4.

She connected it as instructed, powered up the adapter, but does not get a signal to the TV.

She has not yet called WOW to "activate" the adapter.

Is anyone using the WOW digital adapter with a Series 2?

Does the adapter have to be activated before you can see any channels?

Does she have to go back through guided setup? The adapter is not a settop box in the sense that its only output is RF not video/audio component or composite.

She doesn't want to purchase a later model TiVo if that can be avoided.

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Ummm.....

You just said the cable box hasn't been activated yet.

The fact it has to be activated COULD be why it's not working in its non-activated state. :p

Suggest she set it up first feeding it into a TV, and not involve the TiVo until she has the box up and running.

The type of output a cable box uses doesn't change the fact it's a cable box.

It most certainly IS a "set top box".

Don't let the "adapter" term fool you. That's all hype. It's a cheapo cable box that uses an RF output only...like they ALL used to.

Since the TiVo will be depending on the cable box for everything from now on (and not its own tuner), then YES, Guided Setup will have to be run again.

It'll be necessary to tell the TiVo, at the appropriate point, that the box is feeding into the TiVo on channel 3 or 4.

She DOES have the IR blasters for controling the box, doesn't she?

Thanks for the advice and clearing this up for us!

Unfortunately, she can't find the IR blaster cable, so she ordered one from WeeKnees.
