Please excuse this basic question, but I have had nothing but D*Tivo's (3 SD, 1 HD) for six years. Have not had a SA TiVo in years, but just switched to FIOS and have a S3 and will shortly add a TiVoHD. Want to also get a S2 for wife to record SD daytime shows, and cannot find anywhere on this forum a quality vs capacity summary. Assume that the 80 hours applies to lowest quality -- if so, how about other settings?

For the record, my first TiVo in 1999 had a 14 hr capacity at lowest quality, a whopping 4+ hours at best quality!

For an 80 Hr Standalone, it is abouts:

    81 Hrs Basic
    56 Hrs Medium
    40Hrs High
    24 Hrs Best.

That is my recollection when I ran an 80GB HDD.

I record at basic unless I plan to burn it to DVD later. It is just fine for viewing.

For my one none D*TiVo model, I record at the highest setting and off load anything that I'm not going to see soon to my PC.
