Series 2 Freezing up

    For the last week or so my Series 2 80hr TIVO will just lock up. Nothing I do, short of pulling the plug on it gets it to wake up and respond. Have also noticed some recent recordings have spots where the picture (and sound) freezes for a second or two before resuming. This unit is about 4.5 years old. Any suggestions?

    Sounds like a hard drive problem on the face of it. To salvage that machine you will need a new hard drive. See the TiVo Upgrade Center forum for all the details of the various options to do that. Depending on how you decide to replace the hard drive, the cost of that might approach the next option.

    The next option is a new machine. If you have a current month-to-month subscription with a contract period you can transfer the remaining period to a new machine.
