I'm having trouble downloading data again (as many of us did back in 2009). I can connect but I can't complete the connection. This is a series 1 Tivo Philips and I'm dialing into a NYC number. The modem connects and starts downloading data...then it fails at some point during the download.

Believing that the download is accumulative, for the past three days I've been manually attempting to call constantly. Even though I've seen the tivo in "download" status, all in all, for over 3 or 4 hours, the Tivo never gets to the point where it's "loading the data", which leads me to believe that it's not actually downloading data even though it says it is.

For two days I tried the same set up that I've used in the past...same phone, same line, same dial in number -- nothing has changed on my end. Yesterday I started trying new numbers.

I attempt a call -- I see it housekeeping -- I see its dialing -- I see it connecting -- I see it reseting the clock -- I see it downloading...sometimes for over an hour...but it always ends with the "Downloading failed. Call interrupted" message.

I'm able to make test calls, change dialup numbers, etc. Is anybody else being frustrated with this again?

My Series 1 TiVos have also been stuck in Setup for two days...One TiVo trying to dial-in and one TiVo with a TurboNet card. MyTiVo HD connects with no problem.

Experiencing the same issue - my programming data expires today. Any solution? I've tried clearing my TDL and Season Pass lists as well as vacating my logs and no dice. Same error on both the phone modem and my CacheCard ethernet adapter. Test call goes through just fine, daily call fails with "Downloading failed. Call interrupted". I'm thinking this must be on Tivo's end

After the past several hours trying without success to complete the daily call via ethernet and the phone modem I decided to transplant my original Tivo drive and remove my CacheCard to rule out any of my upgrades as a potential cause. With the vanilla drive/software (no TivoWeb, no hacks, no backdoors, no nothing) and no CacheCard/TurboNet I get the same error using multiple call-in numbers via the phone modem. I have literally made over 100 calls via both methods and failed with "Call interrupted" every time. This definitely appears to be a problem on Tivo's end.

The same iss here on my series 1 running TURBONET wired. Test call is successful, but download is interrupted. This must be on TIVO's side.

I had the same issue for the last 2-3 days. This morning I changed to a different call in number and the download finally completed normally and is now loading data...hopefully this part goes well too. 203 area code in CT.

Philips 212 series 1 with upgraded drive.

I'm having precisely the same problem that you describe, ewolfram, except that I have a Series 2 unit and I'm calling from Philly. I have tried downloading from several different numbers, and the call always ends in a "Call Interrupted" failure.

Hmmm, I hope Tivo can resolve this before their engineers go on christmas vacation like they did last year -- basically keeping the service off for 6 weeks or so. I also hope this doesn't become an annual issue.

Yeah, I should have mentioned in my second post: with the original hard drive/vanilla software using the phone modem the test call goes through fine, as does the call to obtain more local dial-in numbers. Same exact behavior as when using the CacheCard w/ethernet. I have not had a single test call fail yet. The failure always occurs after the Tivo has connected, done housekeeping, updated the clock, and begun downloading.

It is a bit odd that is happening on almost the exact date as last time. I'm officially out of program data and setting up my recordings manually by time/channel, so I really hope this doesn't end up being a protracted problem.

I'm having the same exact issue. I get either call failed- interuppted (noone on the phone at 3 am) or service unavailable. I can't call Tivo because they can't ever give me an answer for this. Its never Tivo's fault. I've tried changing the call in number. All tests go through with no problem. I'm in the 203 area code part of CTt

I unplugged my series 1 for about 30 seconds, then restarted. I expected the cold start to perform an fsck on the file system. Sure enough, I can once again download and process. yea:)

I've tried that a few times, still not downloading. This is a spare TiVo that I use in my office when I am in there, so no biggie, but still sucks....

I've unplugged a few times too. It's still not working. Ralexand, what number do you dial in to?

I broke down and chatted with Tivo today. Its of course not their fault. Its because I have Uverse. Now mind you I've had it for the past 4 or 5 years and the Tivo worked fine. Now all of a sudden its because Uverse is digital and Tivo is analog. They want me to spend 300 on a new Tivo unit then another 200 for lifetime service. I have lifetime service on this unit and as I explained to them I paid for something I am no longer able to utilize. They totally ignored the point that a lot of other people are having this issue

I ignored it, till it's normal time to dial in, and guess what? It's dialed in, downloaded data ( over 45 minutes.. but it was empty) and now is updating......

Does your tivo series 1 call during all hours? I thought it was only suppose to call in during the middle of the night. Mine does it at all different times without rhyme or reason.

I just unplugged the power and telephone cord from the back of the unit so we will see if that helps at all. I let it try to go through on its own and it still failed.

I finally got my Series 2 unit to "finish" a download without giving the "Call Interrupted" failure. Unfortunately, the download—although it took an extraordinarily long time—didn't seem to actually download program data. I got a message from TiVo about a new channel on my cable system (so I know I got something downloaded!), but the "program information to" date didn't change. :-(
