I think my Series I Tivo purchased in 2002 is dying and I want to save some of the shows (my kids on the local school news over the years). Is there any way to do this other than saving to VCR, which would mean digging out my old VCR from somewhere in my basement? Is it possible to backup the programs onto some sort of drive? Or anything else?

    Thanks!!

Mick: Thanks for your prompt, albeit brief, response. How would I go about saving the shows without using the record to VCR function?

    Mill Creek,...
A lot depends on how badly your Tivo is "dying". If it's still mostly working, you can probably copy/upgrade its hard drive to a new drive ....

Just do a dd_rescue copy of the drive.
