Outside of the choice of Lebron for the season opener it wasn't a bad episode by recent standards. I only FF a couple of sketches and even some traditionally dull stuff was still quite entertaining. Kanye making fun of himself was nice to see.

I'm easily pleased by SNL and Weekend Update was not that great but I generally enjoyed the show.

I didn't even know it was premiering so missed it. Found out about it when I was perusing youtube last night and came across several clips from the show.

It wasn't painful. That's the best I could say about it.

I thought it was pretty bad, but I did enjoy seeing the maroon 5 guy in their digital short.

The guidance counselor skit was the best one, too bad they put it at the end.

Maya nekkid wasn't bad either though. :)

The digital short was funny, but you couldn't hear half of the lyrics from the audience laughter.

Digital short was probably the best thing and some funny moments in Weekend Update (particularly the Word Jumble). I thought the best bit with LeBron was watching him in the Solid Gold Dancers. Most of the skits a found just , 'eh'. Nothing painfully bad, but just OK, with the occasional chuckle...

That was so, so bad. The "digital short" was mildly amusing and a couple things during "Weekend Update" were funny. Otherwise, the only other thing that came close to being amusing was somebody cutting to the wrong camera (showing the opening stage area in darkness) during the guidance counselor sketch.

I think they should get rid of the "Live" part of this show. Used to be only the guest hosts were stiff, and reading off of cue cards, but now, all the cast members are.
Case in point, all the pre-recorded stuff is actually funny, the "Digital Shorts" "TV Funhouse" and Kanye making fun of himself at the different awards shows.
I think "Saturday Night" would be a better show.

I really didn't think it was that bad. I watch this with my wife and 12yo son and there were plenty of moments we were laughing and we left the show happier than when we started watching. Sure it's not the funniest thing out there but I enjoyed it more than a lot of recent SNL shows. Seth Rogan has a hope to be good next week :)

    Sherman...
The audio from Don Pardo's microphone not going out over the air during the cold open and then again for (most of) the opening credits -- bad omen for the season, perhaps. :D

That actually could have been a blessing. Don seems to screw up badly the first ep every year.

A ha!! I told my hubby that happened, he did not believe me, even when I hit IR a couple of times. What's worse, I see it delayed, not live, and they had a chance to fix it before it went out, but noooooooooo! :p :)

I haven't seen the entire episode (Tivo'd) but did catch the digital short and LeBron as a Solid Gold dancer. Both were pretty funny. :)
