I'm just wondering about the status of other peoples lifetime transfers and if anyones has taken effect successfully. Options:

    1) 90 days are up and the transfer has been completed
    2) 90 days are up and the transfer has not been completed
    3) 90 days are not up and the transfer has not been completed
    4) 90 days are not up and the transfer has completed
    - I'm assuming option 4 is an ASSERT

Essentially.. I was very pleasant and my account had two S1 lifetimes on it dating back to 2000 and 2001. I stated something to the effect that I was a long time user and I just got an S3 and would like to transfer one of my lifetimes to the S3. The rep asked "which machine will we be transferring from?". I gave him the service # and he then took my CC # for the $199 charge... My account at tivo.com already reflects the change and my S3 is activated. He did say it would take 60 days for the lifetime status to swap between each unit.

So to wrap up I didn't ask "Can you transfer?" I stated "I would like to transfer..."

It does work for some, the first time I tried no way the 2nd time no problem, I guess its a lottery as to what CS you get. I did my 2nd Series 3 about 3 weeks ago. Oh the 2nd time I did say "I would like to transfer..."

so does she or does she not ????

I don't think you had to even pay the $199.00

What was the month and year of the one you did the transfer with?

I don't follow what you are asking. The tivo I transferred dates back to somepoint in mid-late 2000...

Interesting. I just got my Series 3 hooked up Monday. I wanted to buy the box last year but I couldn't afford to buy the box and the transfer fee until after I got my tax refund ;) I haven't called yet so I will try this, thanks!

Any lifetime subscription purchased before 1/20/00 can be transfered to any S2 or S3 for free.

I had to look this date up otherwise I would have posted it above. I qualified for this and didn't have to pay anything when I did it on an S2 years ago. If I had only waited.

If you are registered on tivo.com, try: I Have Tivo! > Manage my account > DVR Preferences. It's there under "Activation Date". That's the only place I know of.
