I want to start using the unit in the basement but thinking of renewing hdd and storing original hdd. using winmfs program (need link) to backup and move to new hdd. I did buy a pata to sata adapter a while back..just need to find it! haha so wondering what limitations for size and rotational speed(5400-7200) what seems to work the best? Any recommendations? I remember doing my S3 HD and got some 1tb WDD everyone suggested. Thanks! Bill

Assuming that the move from the 160 to the 1TB did not leave a 16th Apple Free partition at the end of that 1TB, you should try to grab a WD20EURS 2TB A/V specific drive from newegg or Amazon while they're still $100, then use the jmfs cd to upgrade your S3 from 1TB to 2TB and then use the 1TB in the S2.

I hope you got a SATA/IDE adapter with either a Marvell or JMicron chipset.
