Good to see this already here... I just stopped by to post the same thing!
Drew Carey - Another Cleveland boy that made good!
So - anyone watch? did he do good?
Just got done watching it.
Felt a little weird to hear Rich Fields introduce him, but overall he was pretty good. He just needs to loosen up and slow down a little, which I'm sure will happen with time. This was the first taping, after all. I'll reserve judgment for a month or so until they've cycled through most of the games.
I didn't care for him...he was kinda of flat to me. Hopefully he will loosen up and start having fun with it.
He talks fast, sometimes hard to understand him.
Was very stiff, but that is to be expected.
As said above, this is the first taping. He needs to learn the ways of the BOB when doing a lead in to a car as well as faking out the contestant when he is going to reveal the last number or card of a prize.
I wasn't able to watch much of it; Drew was exactly like he was on Whose Line--very "I'm funny when I read off of cue cards". I'd love to say that he'll get better--but he didn't on whose line.
On top of that, he looks like he's put on about 100 pounds since Whose Line. He had been doing pretty well--lost a bunch of weight after his heart attack (or "procedure", since there seems to be conflicting reports as to whether or not he had a heart attack).
What I want to know is can he putt?
He. Was. Horrible.
This actually wasn't the first taping -- they're airing the episodes out of taping order for at least the first few weeks. (Here's CBS's airdate schedule.)
Aw crap, you mean it'll get worse tomorrow?
Oh, that drew.
When do we get to see the one where he broke his arm?
Drew sounded quite nasal, I'm not sure if that was his fault or the fault of the audio engineering.
I didn't care for him at all. Talked too quick, was too stiff. It must be hard to not look like a carbon copy of Barker when doing little things like teasing the reveal of the outcome of a game but Drew seemed to have no clue.
And "Yodel Man"? Really? Is that the type of ad-libbing (I realize the contestant said it first, but Drew ran with it) we can expect?
I thought that was during a rehersal, not a taping.
But I heard during a few shows he has a sling on or something.
I agree. And then he totally gave away the fact that certain prizes were cars before the doors opened. Barker kept the contestant guessing until the last second.
Come back Rosie, all is forgiven!
