Had to look up names to be sure, but my guesses were right.. I think Rimmer & Lister both look really old, but I laughed at it.

I think there's still one season I haven't seen (separate from the 'main' seasons that were made every couple of years IIRC), but that got really bad reviews..

New Red Dwarf now.. Next, Blake's 7!! (just kidding.. Though I wish it got a region 1 release on DVD, even though I've seen all of 'em.)

Rimmer still acting in his mid 20s makes sense since he has no other humans to interact with on a regular basis.

THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!! I saw all of the episodes I think on a public station in NJ. The best part was the space ship Liberator and its computer voice. I loved when it was given an order and it would say in its kind-of mono-toned voice: CONFIRM!!

WOW, awesome.. I haven't read that yet, but I think it'll flop in the U.S., or will be changed to be FAR too different from the original.

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be!

This has been proven over and over again.

Not holding out too much hope - probably less than I have for the new RD series!

Hopefully, Blake will stay on for the full duration of the new series. :)

My favorite is the blatant ripoff of the Starfleet logo (let's turn it sideways, nobody will ever know).

I dunno, with the resurgence of Doctor Who and BBCA, you never know.

I saw the whole series in 1989, at our university club, The Doctor Who & Science Fiction Fan Club. :p We used to watch episodes of Blake's 7, the precursor to Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (I recognized it IMMEDIATELY when Power Rangers came out), Doctor Who, and a few others like Otherworld. Then at the end of the evening, we'd read the Original Hitchhiker 's Radio Scripts aloud, each of us taking parts.

Funny story about that one, when I first joined, they said, "I assume you have the radio scripts." My answer was, "Of course." :p

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I looked for some Blakes 7 episodes on Youtube and they had a bunch of full episodes. One had the word "remastered" in its title and I watched it. It was the one where the people who built Liberator wanted it back and almost got it but of course Blake's crew prevailed. The part that was "remastered" were all the space ships and anything in outer space. In the original I would assume they were all models but here they were computer graphics. Granted not as good as the best from Hollywood, but not that bad either. What I don't know is if the new effects were from some studio or just some enterprising individual. Either way it was a fun watch as that was one of my favorite episodes!!

There was a documentary (The Red Dwarf A-Z) and it had Patrick Stewart on a segment. He said when he saw the show for the first time, and he thought of calling the lawyers because he noticed some blatant ripoff of ST:TNG (he didn't specify). But by the end of the show, he was so busy laughing that he forgot about the whole thing.

Umm, TNG was ~10 years after Blake's 7.

Re-read the post. He was talking about Red Dwarf, not Blake's 7.

I hope that you all have plans for a six week UK vacation starting this week. (or other methods to get UK TV over here. ;))

Red Dwarf X begins it's six week run on Thursday (10/4).

With the DVD / Blu-Ray of the season being released in the UK November 19th. No promise of a US release though.

It's much cheaper to get a VPN (with servers in the UK) and then stream the BBC iPlayer. I pay about $5 a month for the Witopia VPN and can recommend it. Obviously, torrents are even cheaper but the iPlayer can't be beat for convenience.

Hint: The BBC has no part in Red Dwarf anymore. ;)

Yeah, the new series was commissioned and is being shown by Dave.

Good luck with the iPlayer for that one!

The first episode of season 10 "Trojan" is available from various nefarious sources now.

Initial reaction (based on my UK FB friends) is favorable.

For those who want the UK DVD / Blu-Ray of the season. I will be in the UK the week that it is released...

Yup, just finished watching. While nostalgia ain't what it used to be, I found it much better than Back To Earth and pretty true to the original series.

I'll refrain from commenting on the episode itself as that would probably be considered spoilerific.

All I will say is, if you're a fan, give it a look.

Season 12 has started in the U.K.

The first 2 episodes are available via magic.
