Is there a way when setting up a recording of a show to only do it if it comes on between certain hours? My wife wants to record a ton of stuff, and a lot of these shows are on at random times, and all the tuners are getting used up. I just want them to record if the show comes on at certain hours when no one is using the tivo. Thanks

Yes, manual recording. You can pick the channel, time, repeat every day, repeat M-F or once.

Also in your regular one passes you can specify only 1 channel to record from instead of all. Sometimes this solves the problem. I use this for sitcoms like Modern Family, one local channel has 2 on a day and USA has about 6 a day at times.

The only way I know to do it is place those shows up at the bottom of the recording priority list. Go to "Search and Manage" then to "OnePass Manager." Move the problem shows down to the end of the list. Whenever there is a conflict the higher priority show will record. If her shows are available at other times then they will record.

May not be a perfect solution for the OP though. TiVo will use all the tuners before delaying the recording leaving them without any live tuners.

True, it might not be a perfect solution. But, it is a solution. My only other suggestion would have been to buy another Tivo.

I was going to suggest this as well.

Not even remotely similar to what the OP wants to do.

The answer to the OP's question is, no. What has been presented here are half baked, kludgy ideas based on something a Tivo is capable of doing.

    Well, yes--because of the limitations.

This has been the way to make that happen, it's clean, graceful and fulfills most of the OPs requirements in that they can choose what shows are more important than others.

Except that tuners can still be used for recordings at unwanted times. And the OP's goal isn't to choose what shows are more important than others it's to have tuners available at certain times.

The reason the OP wants those tuners available isn't so they can sit idle and free, it's to record things and by prioritizing the OnePass list they will do exactly that, the shows the OP wants to have able to record will be able to.
