    Select-Play-Select - . . .

He's refering to the button press sequence used to activate certain backdoor hacks. I use SPS30S to activate 30 sec skip.

If it does turn out to be that simple, the Tivo QA team should be drawn and quartered for not beta testing 6.3x on drives that were both a full and active. I believe that the auto-recording of suggestions is normally "on" by default, isn't it? /s

6.3 was being tested, at least internally by DirecTV and TiVo, for most of a year, not that it seems to have done a lot of good. It does seem that they did not have a wider test among "real users". However, as a software developer, I can tell you that no matter how much real-world testing you do, as soon as you release, some serious bug will pop up that makes you wonder why it didn't get caught during testing.

I'm a 35 year veteran of the IT industry myself who has managed many large s/w development projects in the past. I agree with you in principle, however, there could be no acceptable excuse in my mind for such a basic and typical user scenario as "full-disk/suggestions on" to go untested.

We don't know for sure that that is the trigger, do we?

No we don't. I should have reiterated the "If" from my original rant. :)

It sort of depends upon how they approach beta testing. Some companies make sure to test for all contingencies, while others use customers to beta test, assuming that the odds are with them that their subset of the universe of beta testers will cover all of the bases. The odds may be with them, but that does not assure that testing will be comprehensive.

Tivo had a good track record until now. Maybe they just got complacent or lazy.

Back on subject, my reboots had quit for a month or more, but I have had several in the last 3 days. Still on 6.3a. BTW, my recorded programs are quite minimal since I have no WL, Suggestions are turned off and I only have about 8 active Season Passes. I also did a C&D not to long ago. Still getting the audio dropouts, mainly OTA, as well. This 6.3* update SUCKS so far. :(
