Is there any connection between this show and the people that did "Dead Like Me"? It has a similar feel and it's one reason I liked it immediately. The "Jack Black" character is very good, and I think they cast the lead roles perfectly. This looks like a winner to me.

Like Chuck, this is a show where I wish they would get rid of the dumb premise. I don't really enjoy watching people battle campy demons. Unlike Chuck, this show was actually quite funny, with some good laugh out loud moments, especially in the first half hour before that pesky plot started to kick in.

I'll try to keep watching this, but the devil and demons stuff might be too much for me.

Wha?? The show IS the premise. If you take that away, all you have is some slackers sitting around drinking and talking.

If I wanted that I'd go to more meets. :D

I really liked it. I also laughed out loud several times (thanks Kevin Smith), and enjoyed it more than I was expecting.

It was interesting to watch Reaper and Chuck back to back yesterday.

The chemistry between the slacker lead and the slacker best friend was magical in Reaper, and painful in Chuck.

I wonder if the people from Chuck watched Reaper and wished their show was clever like that.

It was good, but I for one preferred Chuck. It had humor more my style. Most of the humor in this episode was from the sidekick who is trying to pull off a vince vaughn style character unsuccessfully. I'd go so far as to say that character fell flat on its face. However, the devil is done really well and genuinely is funny, so much so that I will be keeping this one around for a while.

I think they are going to need a lot more supporting characters or at least are going to have to flesh out the love interest and other friend whose name escapes me. Those two were really flat.

I agree with the poster who compared it to buffy. It clearly falls into that genre of freak of the week plus uncomfortable social interactions type stuff. So far the dialogue is vastly inferior to buffy, but even buffy took a while to get its stride. They need to have an Anya like character to be really successful here, given how awful the other characters are so far.

I do like the lead, though.

I'd be down for that if it was done well. Sounds like a Kevin Smith movie.

I liked the premiere, but it remains to be seen if it can keep up the humor and chemistry over time. And if the later episodes where Kevin Smith is not involved are as good.

I hope they don't have a continuing subplot where the slacker main characters are trying to keep the secret from the hot chick with low standards. That will get old fast. Just tell her and bring her in for help.

And that third guy who is in on the secret right now, the one who got burned and went to the hospital... is that a red shirt he's wearing? It seems like his role is not long for this show, considering that all of the ads and everything focus on the two main slackers and the hot chick with low standards.

Ray Wise :  . I've been a fan of his ever since Robocop, but especially since Twin Peaks.

Love the concept, didn't like the execution -- the direction was heavy-handed. Gonna tune in and see if it gets a little better and finds its groove.

Um...Why would a character who can CHANGE HER APPERENCE not be on a show anymore because the actress who played her is no longer on the show?

Because she had a "default appearance." In otherwords - herself. When the show has to illustrate that the character you thought it was is actually the shape changer, they have to have her go back to her normal self. If the actress is unavailable, you can't do that anymore.

That's kind of the problem having a character with powers like that. In 2 years they can come back and say, zomg Mr Bennett was her all along.
