Hey all. Just hooked my 2 Series2 boxes up after being disconnected for months (they are both on lifetime). No problems getting the updates and no problems getting the new channel lineups.

We now have Motorola Digitcal cable boxes (can't find a model number) from Charter Communications. On the back of box there is a 9 pin female serial port labeled "Data" and round connector labeled "IR" (similar connection to the IR that goes into the TiVo).

I would love to get away from using the IR blaster - is the data port described above what we would use connected to the TiVo via the "serial" connection ?

    Ontario Canada.
Yes, if they are enabled by the provider.

Yes, it is. I have two Tivo(HUMAX) boxes hooked up via the 9-pin. There is a bit of a delay when switching channels, but nothing too bad...good luck
