Programming the remote to control a TV (only partially working)

I bought a used Samsung TV that didn't have the remote and was hoping to get the Tivo remote to take over for basic things. My Tivo remote is the old long peanut model swiped from a dead Tivo Mini.

The first code 0305 worked great for power, volume, mute. BUT the channel up/down buttons don't work. Neither do the 4-way menu navigation buttons (less important) - or Select

The programming procedure doesn't kick in with the press and hold of the Tivo+Ch buttons together.
I seem to remember on other TVs at least the channel buttons would work. Even the numeric entry - but no go on this one.

Any thoughts?

 

OK thanks - that's what I suspected - you've confirmed it now! Off to buy a universal remote I guess!
