    Hello all,

    I just upgraded my Tivo Premiere drive with a 3TB WD AV-GP drive. I cloned the drive with the Ross Walker instructions using the Premiere JMFS Linux Boot CD ISO.

    The process went very smoothly and took just over 2 hours to clone the drive, expand, and supersize it.

    The final volume boots in the system perfectly and reads that I have 401 hours of HD capacity. With calculation I came up with a total of 421 hours (properly using binary 1024, etc.) and the new Roamio 3TB system says it has 450 hours.

    I just wanted to check that my 401 hours is inline with what others were seeing with their 3TB upgrades? Not that I'm complaining . . . 401 hours is far more than the previous 45 hours. ;) I know the Roamios boot from flash, so is this where the extra space went?

    Premiere - Roamio
    root & kernels : 524288*2+16384*2 - 0 = 1081344
    swap: 262144 - 1048576 = -786432
    var: 1048576 - 1572864 = - 524288
    Total: -229,376 sectors

    If I did that right, the Roamio has more wasted space for OS housekeeping than Premiere.

    Found the calculation Roamio 6 tuner uses in the logs:
    TvSettingsInfoService: Total disk size in GB: ...; MFS User Partition Size in GB: 1435 / (Bitrate: 2000000 / (8*1024*1024*1024)) ==> recordingDuration: 6169296 seconds = 1713:41:36.000, cacheDuration: 3:00:00.000, Recording Capacity: 1716:41:36.000 (includes 6 * 30 minutes live cache)

    TvSettingsInfoService: Total disk size in GB: ...; MFS User Partition Size in GB: 1435 / (Bitrate: 13800000 / (8*1024*1024*1024)) ==> recordingDuration: 893888 seconds = 248:18:08.000, cacheDuration: 3:00:00.000, Recording Capacity: 251:18:08.000 (includes 6 * 30 minutes live cache)

    And for Premiere 2 tuner:
    TvSettingsInfoService: Total disk size in GB: 298; MFS User Partition Size in GB: 268 / (Bitrate: 1580000 / (8*1024*1024*1024)) ==> recordingDuration: 1467731 seconds = 407:42:11.000, cacheDuration: 1:00:00.000, Recording Capacity: 408:42:11.000 (includes 2 * 30 minutes live cache)

    TvSettingsInfoService: Total disk size in GB: 298; MFS User Partition Size in GB: 268 / (Bitrate: 13800000 / (8*1024*1024*1024)) ==> recordingDuration: 167342 seconds = 46:29:02.000, cacheDuration: 1:00:00.000, Recording Capacity: 47:29:02.000 (includes 2 * 30 minutes live cache)

    I'm not sure where the discrepancy you're seeing is coming from but these rule out some common explanations.
