It's about what you would be charged for a cable box and it has more functionality so it seems like a good deal.

Yep. Price seems about right to me. My cable provider (BHN) charges $8.00 for a STB. Actually it is right in line with what I was thinking for retail Preview pricing. $6.95 / month + $3.00 / month for the CableCARD. Its still significantly cheaper than the cost of the Premiere.

Here on FiOS an HD STB costs the same amount per month. But of course no streaming. Of course it's always better if it's cheaper, but the price is in line with other providers for an HD STB.

Btw, the Engadget article incorrectly states the Preview doesn't have a tuner. That's a pretty big oversight by Engadget.

Agree. I sent a tweet to @rjcc and also posted a comment on the story. If you tweet him as well he'll probably get it corrected pretty quickly.

Here is a link to a better story on the change in strategy from Adobe -->

    http://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2011/11/10/adobe-pulls-flash-from-tv-environment/

The company said that its future work would be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores.

We've already seen evidence from the 16.x software thread that TiVo is transitioning to Adobe Air which should be a somewhat easy transition from the current Flash Lite environment.

If you have a HD DVR hub ($20/mo), you can indeed stream recordings to a FiOS HD STB.

I like the part about adding new features next year. Like they're on time with completing the HD screens on the Premiere? :D
