In the main thread I stated how neither of my Tivo HDs (Series 3) have any apparent issues with Amazon HD downloads yet my Premiere Elite consistently has severe pixelation, etc. Just plain poor quality - only on the Elite. Trying to get better insight as to whether or not this is a unique experience or whether there is more correlation specifically with the Premiere and Amazon HD. The issues we're speaking of are the pixelation/picture issues in particular and with Amazon HD content in particular. Not SD. Not Netflix.

I routinely have issues. The nice thing is that if you email the Instant Video department they refund you without hesitation. I usually have my money credited back before the program is even over.

I own both (Elite and S3s), but don't watch Amazon videos. I would be happy to test this, just to create another data point, if it's something I can d/l for free. Are there any n/c videos/downloads?

There is free HD content to watch. There is a section for free content when you run the Amazon app on TiVo.

I have Pushed Free Sneak Peek and Prequel HD items from the Amazon site and have not had any issues. I have never purchased from the TiVo itself though.

We don't watch Amazon downloads or Netflix anymore on our Premiere. Purchased a Roku and no more problems.

I have both a Tivo HD and Premiere Elite. Only problem with pixilation (and sometimes partial recordings) is with the elite. I have attempted all of the suggested solutions to the problem including going from HDMI to component, from HD to SD on Tivo menu, selecting both1080i and 720p, Tivo jump start 57 & 58, restart guided setup, tightened all the cables etc. The problem with pixilation on the elite now seems to be somewhat better, but every hour HD recorded program includes several pixilation issues. Tivo definitely needs to fix this problem or be flooded with returns. Some posts have indicated that Tivo has promised to send an update soon that will solve this issue.

I doubt that Tivo is going to be "flooded with returns" for this reason. There are lots of other reasons......

I do a LOT of business with Amazon, as both a buyer and a seller and overall their customer service SUCKS. The one bright spot is the Instant Video group. They seem to have nothing to do because they reply within minutes. They never question anything. They just promptly refund and apologize.

Maybe as a seller their cust service sucks, but as a buyer, I receive incedible customer service with them. I couldn't be happier with them.

So far, 6 out of 22 voters have indicated that they have a Premiere, and that they have no issues with Amazon HD downloads. I think we would all be interested in learning more about those instances. How frequently have you downloaded Amazon HD rentals/purchases? Which Elite is is? XL? Elite? Which titles? SW versions? It would be great to be able to drill down to yet a bit more to try and establish any correlation...

Please note - I'm not insinuating that anyone isn't experiencing what they're reporting, but truly trying to get a better picture of what's going on. When many of us consistently have issues 100% of the time there has to be something to measure here.

I have purchased about a half dozen HD download rentals from Amazon on a TiVoHD, one didn't download for some reason but all that did have played perfectly fine. I much prefer downloading and viewing later to just streaming so although I use Google TV for all other internet TV and internet viewing, for that one application, I will continue to use TiVoHD.

It is a surprise to me that the Premiere or Elite would not be able to download and play Amazon video properly based on my experience with TiVoHD. I would first try to eliminate any other cause of the problems, perhaps change TiVo places in the network to see if there is any difference for starters.

You probably missed the other thread. I agree with you that it is quite surprising that the Elite has the issue where the HD does not. However, in that other (main) thread I detailed many of the troubleshooting procedures I used. That included swapping Tivo locations, HDMI cables, RG6 cables, etc. No matter what variables I changed, the issue moved with the Elite and never happened with either of my HDs. In other words, I believe I removed the following from the potential cause at a minimum:

    Switch port
RG6 home run (in wall routing of RG6 cabling)
    video port on distribution box
    RG6 patch cord
    HDMI cable
    Display unit
    Firewall/router

As a result of this, I believe I've also effectively removed the following:
    SNR/Signal Strength
    Overal internet performance/latency

Yes, I did miss the other thread and can see you have pretty well identified where the issue must lie, the Premiere/Elite.
