I am very surprised as I disliked it so much before when seeing it, but after using it I would not go back. Sometimes with new technology you have to give up something to get something or learn new ways to do things. I been using TiVo's probably 15 or 17 years now and the removal of 1 thing or even a couple is not going to make me not want the newest and latest like VOX.

I love Hydra and am keeping it. I couldn't imagine going back to using the HDUI. I especially love the episode strip. And also when looking at the cast, it tells you the characters name they play. Overall I am really enjoying Hydra. It's been an excellent upgrade for me on my Bolts, ROamio, and mini.

Although I do wish I could still use pyTiVo to pull content from my PC. But at least I can still transfer to my PC and use PLEX if I need to to view on my TiVos..

I like it for some things, but really want 'left to go back' and live guide back. The back button on my harmony goes to the last channel, while i have to long press it to go back in any menu now.

I'm not a huge fan of the fact that it auto-sorted all my shows by season either, or that the season\episode labels are often a bit... off. But the sort is fixable

I don't like it at all. Planning on going back, but holding off just a bit to see if they offer a better option that doesn't wipe everything. If not then I'll just wait for the TV season lull over the holidays, transfer everything I want to keep to my main Bolt, and wipe it.

I have a Roamio OTA and two Minis (a V1 and a V2) I haven't upgraded yet... I have a couple of VOX remotes waiting on the sidelines for when it I am ready to make the move to Hydra...

My observations based on my limited thread browsing is:

    1) Hydra is largely ready for my Roamio OTA. I'd love to have the Live Guide, but it's not a complete showstopper for me.

    2) Hydra is NOT ready for the mini yet... Too many unacceptable issues... I don't know if I am up to date on this though, so maybe I am wrong... If I am, please someone...tell me... :)

I am waiting for Hydra to become stable and usable on my minis before I make the jump...

Have to say largely I like hydra on my roamio OTA (but really, playing ALL recordings of a show in chronological order, left to go back, and hitting left when the show is 90%+ over to bring up the delete window shouldn't have gone away!) I do *very* much hope they re-enable the ability to throw recordings from the PC to the tivo with a later upgrade, but for now I've managed to beat plex into submission so that works for when I need to watch something from the pc and don't want to fish out the wireless keyboard.

I doubt these 2 are going to change so you'll have to relearn to use the back button instead of the left button. :(

I love Hydra. My wife and I were complaining when we first got the upgrade about how unintuitive it is/was but after a few days I couldn't think of not having it available.

I hate it. I hate having to feel for the back button. I hate the show guide setup. I hate that I cant see just the shows on a particular network, instead I have to scroll contnuously left and right and I’m always stuck between time slots. I hate that I can’t easily stop and delete a show I’m watching without pressing every conceivable sequence. I hate that SKIP is automatic as I sometimes like watching commercials. I hate that I switched. I used to always praise my Tivo. I’ve been a loyal customer since 2004. I’ve owned about 5 over the years and have recently upgraded to the tivoBolt for $500+. I can no longer say that Tivo is the gold standard. I used to love it. Now I just hate it.

Ok, so it’s been a few days, and I still hate it.

I love the Hydra interface. I've been using it for a week or so now and I find it a nice upgrade. It's different and has taken some adjusting, but it's new so that's to be expected. If I wanted to keep doing everything as I had been doing I would have just stayed with the old interface. Sometimes it takes being uncomfortable for progress to be made. Seeing as I'd done things the old way since 1999 it has taken a few days to re-train my muscle memory on some of the remote buttons but I'm getting there. My husband is jealous as he can't get it on his Premiere so it looks like we'll be adding a new TiVo to the family in the near future.

Skip is NOT automatic. You CAN always downgrade to Encore (the previous software).

I decided late last year to convert one of my Roamio Plus/Pro units to Hydra (the one I primarily use) and leave the one that the wife mostly uses on Encore. I committed to giving it several months unless it was absolutely unusable to try to divorce "I don't like it" from "I'm not used to it".

The verdict? I just this week bit the bullet of transferring all of my programs off box, reverting back to Encore, and transferring them back. And it's a huge relief.

The biggest problem was the performance on my V1 Mini that constitutes the lion's share of my watching. It was hideously slow. I had other nuisances and issues, like the lack of show transfers, but it was the performance that ultimately made the decision for me.

Maybe the Bolt is fast enough to cover for the more resource intensive interface, but unless it gets massively optimized from the current builds it will never be acceptable on a Mini+Roamio combo.

I've been contemplating switching from Spectrum to AT&T UVerse, but the only thing holding me back was losing my TIVO. I've been a TIVO user since the early days. However, this upgrade may have pushed me over the edge. Gone is the intuitive nature of TIVO. There are so many bugs (like Suggestions not listing the name of the show, but rather the episode name).

If I have to learn a whole new bug ridden DVR, I might as well learn AT&Ts.

I've had Tivo since Series 2. I wasn't even aware there was a button with the letters "Back" on it. The back button was what some people called the left button. I never bothered to call it left because it took the action of going back. It took a bit of searching to find that there was a button with those letters on it. Not as convenient but not a deal breaker once I got used to it.

Try it, you’ll like it. I don’t want to. Let’s get Mikey. He hates it, too

You know you can change what the buttons do on a Harmony remote. You just need to tailor it toward you usage.
