I was thinking more in the way he's treated by the police. Maybe they would have a bit more respect knowing he literally shot his own brother to save his partner...... which if I'm honest, I don't know exactly how I feel about that.

Maybe they would...but him being a hero to the cops for shooting his brother would still be a death sentence for him.

Someone explain to me why the mother has to be so creepy. Mom sitting in the dark waiting on her daughter that's out all day/night? Absolutely. Mom turning the light on just when daughter thinks she's successfully sneaking in? Absolutely. Mom saying nothing but singing Popeye to daughter to let her know she knows what she did all day and then just turning the light back out? Absolutely NOT. That woman is off her rocks.

I knew Nathan Lane was a good actor but man, that breakdown in the stairwell was gut wrenching. Amazing acting.

I'm so utterly confused about the entire dance hall thing. I thought Pachuco meant gangster. What kind of gangsters were they supposed to be? It was like something out of West Side Story. Is this true to life how things were back in this time? I don't know much about Pachuco like I do others in that era.

Tiago continues to be the most intriguing. The minute he told Molly it was his second best day ever, something was going to point to her. I think it's the creepy mom or her hired henchman.

Agree about the dance club scene. It was a little out of left field. And Natalie Dormer acting like a Pachuco was a bit cringe-worthy.

And I think she's a great actress and does well on the other roles here, but she did not pull Pachuco off even a little.

And didn't even try (there was an offhand line about Rio not actually being Latina), so I suspect given Dormer's ability with accents there's an in-story reason for it..?

    Don't yell at nerdy Magda!

Felt horrible for Josefina. Not only for being violated by that creep who certainly got what he deserved, but her mother who clearly cares more about her sons. Molly to the rescue I guess.

Elsa is my favorite Magda. And her "son" is super creepy LOL

Pachuco Magda did not embarrass herself too badly. Definitely my least favorite Magda. Nice to see Brad Garrett.

I don't think it's that she cares more about her sons so much as that she knows more about what her sons are going through. One's been shot in the head, one's joined the police force, and one's become a gangster; she has no clue what happened to Josefina.

Kinda weird that outside the show people keep referring to "Magda" as a shapeshifter. But every "shape" she "shifts" into is clearly just Natalie Dormer with different hair, makeup, and wardrobe...

That may be true but just when she needed her mother most...and I guess that's how they'll put Molly into the mix.

There is a lot to unpack in my head for this episode so bear with me here.

First, that entire scene with Molly and Tiago at the beach house. Is that place supposed to be a secret? If so then her acting like her day at the carnival was such an escape from her life rings really false. I guess that's the point. She was already living as another person with the dead guy at that place on occasion. I don't think it makes her a bad person and seems that Tiago isn't giving up either in spite of her telling him she never wanted to see him again. I laughed at her sigh at the end when she saw him and just handed him a plate.

I'm not sure what to make of what happened during her sermon though. Her mom even looked taken back? Josefina sure was in awe of it all though. I wasn't sorry for the cop that violated her. He's had it coming since the first episode. I felt sorry for Mateo. He's now had to watch his brother shoot and almost kill his other brother, watch his sister be molested and now he's become a murderer. There's no turning back for him now. I guess we finally saw the Pachuco I thought they were. I also agree that Magda's accent wasn't as awful this time. I do think it's Natalie's weakest character.

Elsa and Dr Craft. WOW, didn't see that coming. I mean I did see it coming in general but not like that, not this episode. She just straight up put the booty in the air and he obliged. Her "son" is really creepy. What's the point of him terrorizing Tom though? The kid hasn't done anything to anyone, has he? Also did you all realize the Dr's wife is Piper Perabo? o_O Would not have guessed that in 50 tries.

WELL, speaking of not seeing something coming.... holy hell. The scene with the councilman and whats-his-name. It's clear why but I was still  when henchman started kissing him and then said "top or bottom".

Last note: I knew Brad Garrett was tall but good lord he looked like a literal giant next to Nathan Lane! Also enjoyed the fact that he works for Meyer Lansky. Hope we get to see him eventually too and they pick someone good to represent him!

    Okay I'm done! :)

I was surprised that Nathan Lane’s character didn’t kill the guy that Brad Garrett’s character had “captured”. He wanted revenge for his friends death and to fight the Nazi’s, and while he wasn’t the murderer (or a Nazi), he did supply the Nazi’s with guns (“maybe even the gun that killed your friend”), and putting a bullet into him would have been a sign to the Mob that he was in with them to stop the Nazi’s (which he wanted)

I wasn't surprised that he didn't kill the guy. He's a cop and as bad as he wants to stop them, he's not willing to become a murderer to do it. At least not yet!

    I guess he's just not a murderer.

    Interesting contrast with Mateo...

Not a murderer, but trying to get the Mob to do it for him?
After his friend was killed, I was certain he would have taken his revenge — but he has yet to become acquainted with the god of chaos

Wouldn't it be cool if they cast the actor who played Lansky on Borardwalk Empire?

LOVED the casting on all characters in BE so I'd be okay with this! They could bring Lucky back from there too just for me. :D

    Yeah he's got some moves...LOL!

Tiago's lil bro shoulda told him what that db did to their sister. Letting him go simply because they're brothers was silly. Silly I tell ya!
