I was a bit disappointed with how the Amber story played out. Thought for sure the season would end with Sarah escorting her to rehab; instead, they went the touchy-feely "I forgive you and everything is fine" route. I expect, and hope, that they're not done exploring her addictive personality.

I don't relish the thought of the additional, and artificial, conflict a third kid will bring to Adam and Kristina. Not only that, but the entire premise seems flawed: it's pretty obvious that they were done with their family, and Adam seems like a responsible enough guy to have had "the big V" long ago. Just doesn't make sense, and I wonder if they're doing this as part of a larger miscarriage story line for next season to give Kristina some more depth...goodness knows she could use it.

Jasmine comes back to Crosby...but not until after he admits that their relationship problems are all on him. Meh. Their pairing never worked, and she needed to take responsibility for her huge role in driving him away. She infantilized him, plain and simple, and I was very much hoping that his "I won't pursue you any more" comments would be the end of their relationship.

Peter Krause was especially fantastic this week, though. His interactions with Max are always the highlight for me, and the hospital meltdown and subsequent father-son dialogue was some of the best stuff they've written all season.

I told my wife that the entire premise of this show seems to be people who don't say what's needed to be said.
The episode last night was the opposite...it was filled with people saying EXACTLY what needed to be said...like Zeke telling Amber to grow the eff up and Adam telling his boss what an immature a-hole he is...and Adam telling Max that he's acting inappropriately and must apologize.

    Has this been renewed yet?

I'm hoping that it plays out this way, as this show works best when there is some kind of angst or conflict in the family.

Anyways, Mae Whitman (Amber) should get an Emmy nomination for last night; she was amazing.

Not yet, but according to Ausiello it's essentially a done deal.

Also, executive producer Jason Katims told Ausiello in an interview yesterday that
Jasmine showing up to Crosby's place at the end doesn't necessarily mean they're getting back to--BWAHAHAHA! Sorry, I can't even finish that sentence with a straight face. Of COURSE that's what it means.

I thought it was interesting that they brought some of the original movie plot into this episode - the lost retainers, the firing, the baby.

It was all kind of out of left field...

I agree. I think she's the best actress on the show.

I think, outside of the ending, everything else was pretty predictable.

If by the ending you mean the pregnancy announcement, that was predictable too*.

    * At least in my house. When we watched the previews for this episode the week before, it showed Adam finding the pregnancy test stick and looking up at Haddie through her window. My wife instantly said "it's not Haddie's - it's his wife's". :)

And this is why even though run by the guy who does Friday Night Lights it is no FNL. It is still very good show and better than most things on TV.

When I saw that preview, my first thought is, it was going to be after the younger sister came to visit...the one who's trying to get preggers, and she through it away in their trash so not to tip off Joel. Something like that. Only after the episode played out, did I know it was going to be the wife's.

Also why don't Joel and Julia get a surrogate? Her issue is not that she is infertile it is there is something wrong with her uterus to carry a child. Maybe adoption is a better storyline but they seem like the kind of couple that would want a child of their own.
