We bit the bullet and we are having a 50" flat panel Tv delivered on Sat.
    Now here is the ?
We have Comcast with no Premium channels is it worth it to subscribe to the HD channels?

    Now the Tivo/DVR ?

We have a Series 1 and a Series 2 Tivo with Lifetimes.
We could go with the Comcast DVR which is cheaper than the Tivo Series 3 HD
or we could get the Tivo Series 3. But that way we would have to pay monthly.

Head is spinning any input would be great

TiVo S3, with $200 rebate, can be purchased for around $400.

TiVo HD can be purchased for less than $300. Amazon has had it for around $260.

I'd go for the TiVo HD if cost is an issue at all. But for around $100+ more, you do get some nice extras with the S3.

Either way, you can qualify for multi-service discount, so your monthly could be as little as $6.95 for either new unit.

Or, you could wait for Comcast to roll out TiVo software for their DVR's.

Personally, I'd pick up a TiVo HD.

If you knew the problem my wife has had with her DVR (not a TiVo) you would opt out for the TiVo. We have Cox and a Motorola DVR and she is on her 4th DVR in the last 6 months. None of them last too long and the software it is running on is junk. We are now going to get her a HD TiVo and give Cox the DVR back. I love my S3 TiVo and have had it since it came out. She isn't allowed to touch it by the way. She didn't want it to begin with so now she is paying the price.
