I think you are reading too much into it. When he came up on the motorcycle I thought it must be Henry's father, but the exchange with Emma made me change my mind completely. If he is Henry's father, there was no evidence Emma had any idea, which would be really weird.

Unless this is another one of those where it was supposed to be obvious the Queen knew everything but it wasn't obvious at all.

I think she was just surprised to see a stranger and he was trying to be all cool and mysterious in front of the pretty lady.

I'd like to know why Mr Gold gave Emma the name of the father.

I don't think motorcycle guy is the father. It's only been 10 years! There's no way they wouldn't recognize each other, and they definitely didn't.

Loved Gold's comment when Emma asked "is there any more information"; he says "no, just a name. But I find that's all you need". Heh.

You must be new to kids. ;)

I found them completely unbelievable as twins. Yes, girls mature faster than boys, but they could not have looked more different in coloring and height. It's like they cast them before they wrote the script and realized they had to be twins so the dad could protest that it was "just one time".

I expect Henry's dad is responsible for Emma landing in jail.

I didn't think that the "biker stranger" was Henry's father, I agreee that Emma would have remembered him. Here's my thought, Remember Rumpelstiltskin's son? After Rumple became the new "Dark one" we can assume he kept his some from being conscripted, but where was he when the curse activated? And could the box on the bike contain "The Dagger"?

Yeah, note it was the same costume she usually wears, but with a cloak and hat (and a lot more hair!)

My guess is Mr. Gold knows about the curse, and wants Emma to break it. That means he can go free out of town, with all of his riches.

As for the motorcycle stranger, I've read somewhere online....

The writers are setting him up as Emma's new love interest, after the death of the Sheriff.

He was on Supernatural last week, too, playing

    Eliot Ness (time travel episode)

I knew I recognized him but had to look him up to realize it was Krycek!

I too like the show but think the costuming for the storybook characters is excellent. My greater issue... the Disney-esque elements [Blue Fairy, Jiminy Cricket... other?] that have been injected are a huge turn-off to me and do seem very out of place, as you mentioned. I hope they don't let it become one huge product-placement vehicle for Disney films, just because it's on ABC.

I like most of the storybook costumes, but the EQ's guards with those weird helmets are utterly ridiculous. It looks like they're wearing sea anemones on their heads.

I and the wife liked it. Was nice how they tied it to the main arc at the end with the apple. Grettal was boss.

I think if it were more blatant and continuous, it would be a concern, but we've only seen a very small number of obvious Disney influences over the run of the series so far.

As a matter of fact, I prefer having some insertion of Disney elements into the fairy tales. Fairy tales change and evolve over time, and as they pass between languages and cultures. Disney's influences on the classical stories is just the most recent of this evolution. I think it's proper that this evolution be acknowledged. In fact, I would somewhat expect it even if the show weren't produced and aired by ABC.

You make a good point about the evolution of these classic stories. I agree. If they incorporated select Disney elements in a way that feels indigenous to the show, that wouldn't bother me. It's that so far those elements feel very Disney-esque and by that I mean kind of cutsie. I believe the
    Beauty and the Beast
episode is coming up soon and while I wouldn't mind a
*magical* spoon or cup that had a vintage feel, I would hate to see them talk or look like the ones in the movie.

I agree with you regarding the upcoming episode, but disagree with you about it feeling Disney-esque and cute-sy thus far.

The Disney-esque elements I referred to were solely in reference to things like the Blue Fairy, et al. I don't feel that way at all about the show as a whole. Actually, I'm enjoying it very much.

[I think pronoun usage made it sound like I meant the show]

And I have faith that it won't get too cutesy. This is the show that blew up Cinderella's fairy godmother, after all.

Probably dumb question (due to my lack of memory), but was this the first time we actually saw basically an entire fairy tale? We've obviously seen tons of different characters.
