Look behind the TV and see what kind of connections you have.

Heck, one of my TV's was purchased in 1985 and has RCA Inputs (red, white, yellow) plus coax connections.

I'm using my 5-6 year old Samsungs. They have a yellow/white connection (in the back of the TV. One has Y/W fore and aft) plus coax input. These work fine with my Tivo.

If you get a non DVD Series 2 or a Series 1, it will have an RF out. Or yes, you can use an RF modulator.

I too have an older TV with RF in only, and use an A/V switcher with and RF modulator "built in".
